The dryer has started making a high pitched squeal when turned on. At first, it was random and would go away after warmed up. But now, the screeching sound is continuous. The unit is over 10 years old, but has worked great until now. Your thoughts?

Could you please tell me the capacity of the wash tub and the dryer? Also, two other issues. 1-. dryer makes loud screeching noise when turned on, then noise quites in a few minutes. what part would i need? since it's 15 years old i don't want to put too much into it. if i continue to use without replacing this part, will it cause furthur damage? 2-. i have taken dryer apart when i bought it used and cleaned lint out thoughly. it still leaves much lint on clothes. vent does collect well and properly seeled. lint chunks hand up in door, but lint still on clothes once they are dry. any possible solutions? thanks much.

Hi Jan, thank you for your question. Both are 5.7 cu ft. For your dryer you may want to check your felt seals and your ball hitch bearing. It could be that one or all of those parts have worn out and just need to be replaced. If you are getting excessive lint on your clothes you may need to clean the filter with some hot soapy water. It might be that it is clogged. You may also want to check the inside ducts of the appliance and make sure there is no build up on lint inside of the dryer duct itself. Good luck with your repair.

Hi Anthony, thank you for your question. You may want to check your pulley and your belt to see if they need replacing if you are getting a high pitched noise like that. Those parts will wear down over time and might need replacing. Good luck with your repair.
