Dryer stopped working
1- cleared all the ducts. (They were clogged and this is what caused the fuse to open) 2- Replaced the fuse from the kit 3- The dryer stopped working again after 1/2 hour -the fuse blew-up again 4- Altough the stat (the other part included in the kit) checked OK with the multimeter, it was actually defective and did not regulate the temp. 5- changed both parts included in the kit, the dryer worked normally again.
I followed the "How to" video on your web site. Most importantly, I cleaned the entire filter area which probably caused the problem as your instructions recommended. I will do that annually going forward. I would recommend your service to anyone.
i followed part select instructions that probable cause was either thermal fuse or high limit thermostat.put ohm meter across both & saw thermal fuse(has pink dot on it) part 53-1182 was open.ordered thermal fuse replacement kit. part#LA-1053. the problem i had was after reaching down the side of heating housing removing the bracket with the thermal fuse, replacing & reconnecting it i had a hard time reinstalling the bracket, very tight space & i don't have very big hands.finally got the fuse in it's hole in the bracket & slid & jammed the bracket into the side of the mounting housing & it stayed secure.dryer started
Looked up dryer by serial number on the internet. Watched the video on the website very easy installation. Ordered the part it came in within 2 days. Opened the top of the dryer with a 10 in one tool (like a putty knife). Took out the out defective parts by unscrewing the thermostat took wires off the old part and put them on the new part not to confuse wires. Did the same with the heater element installed the new parts. Very simple. If I had to call a repair person it would have cost 3 times as much as the part alone.
Lint filter in the 22 year old Admiral gas dryer was wearing out
Received the replacement filter which was an exact duplicate of the 22 year old filter. Took the old one out; slid the new one in and got ready for another 22 years of use. At 86 years of age I probably won't be around to see the new filter wear out. The dryer has already outlasted the place where I purchased it - Montgomery Wards! They just don't make stuff to last like this anymore.
I first unplugged the dryer. I had to move the dryer forward a little. Then I used a screwdriver to pry up the top of the dryer from the front. I positioned the top all the way back until it rested on the front of the cabinet. Make sure it's far enough back so it doesn't accidentally close on you while you are working on it. I located the high limit thermostat right above the heating coils. I unplugged the two wires going to it. I used a nut driver to remove the screw that was holding it to a bracket. I then I removed the two screws that held it to another bracket. I installed the new thermostat to the bracket and then reinstalled it to the bracket above the coils. I plugged the two wires back in and closed the lid. Make sure the dryer vent is still attached if you had to move it. The dryer works fine now and doesn't overheat.
After watching the great install video, I followed his lead and within 20 min had my dryer door fixed. This dryer was bought in 1986 and I really thought I was looking at buying a new dryer. How wonderful that I could fix it for less than $11. Easy to find web site, easy to find part, great instructions and fast delivery!
I took apart the dryer by unscrewing the top and the front, front comes off by just undoing the two top screws on the inside. I figured it was something to do with the rollers since the noise was ciclycal. The hardest part was to put the drive belt back on. It helps to have a second person for about 5 minutes.
Ordered the leveling bolts, very fast shipping, parts correct as shown. Purchased a condo by the shore, frige had no levelers, they went in smoothly & was done in no time. Steve
discovered it was a broken latch. Ordered the latch, only took 2 days to arrive and all I had to do was remove the broken latch and snap in the new one. I saved myself a service call. I'm very happy!!!!!!
noise, shaking, from foreign object in the blower, from operating without the lint filter
Lint filter replacement is routine maintenance. operating without a filter causes problems, a dryer sheet was sucked thru the opening and into the blower wheel, causing a lot of noise, and shaking because of the unbalance. I popped the top of the machine up, removed two screw holding the front in place, removed the front, gaining access to blower. Removed the offending sheet, straighted the bent fin, and put everything back together again. Installeed the new filter, now it runs smooth, and quiet. mission accomplished.
