Dryer will not start. No light in tub for tub.
Process of elimination. Replaced heating element and high limit heat thermostat . Replaced door button switch and timer. Still not working. Replaced control thermostat, and still not working. Purchased ohm meter and checked thermal fuse that comes with high limit kit. Bad thermal fuse. Replaced thermal fuse that comes with kit. Dryer now has tub light and working fine. Learning to use an ohm meter really helps, and will save you a lot of frustration.

No Start/Low Heat
After replacing these parts (VERY EASY!) my dryer is back online. As a mechanic/oilfield/trucker, I don't have time to mess around with this kind of stuff. My husband wanted to take the credit here.....lol. THANK YOU!

Dryer will not start
I replaced the timer asembly, still did not start.
I REPLACED THE HEATER SENSORS, TWO OF THEM,THAT DID
THE JOB.I suggest to check both heater sensors first, one I missed at the beginning is on the right side of the heating coil, kind of hidden.I believe that one was the problem.
I could have saved myself some money if I had found and checked that sensor first.

My dryer was completely dead
I checked this site and determined all of the possible causes. I watched the video when available. I checked prices on a replacement set ($2300.00) if I got what I really wanted but decided to tackle the repairs myself and save $2100.00. My only mistake was becoming distracted when testing the timer resistor before placing my order and not knowing where to connect the replacement. I ended up paying for assistance online ($24.00). It was much cheaper then replacing my washer and dryer or even calling a service person out for help. I applaud the services offered at this site and would recommend it to friends and family.

Dryer works just not heating!
Not being able to afford a new dryer we bought this dryer second hand, picked it up from the seller, moved it up a flight of stairs, plugged it in to find that it worked but didn't heat. We were so devastated and we just left it sit for a week or two because there was no time to deal with fixing it. During that time I continued to use the laundromat down the street to dry our clothes. Finally I got online to google the part number to see what I could find out and that's when I ran across this site. It gave me HOPE and all that I needed to know to fix it instead of hauling it back down those stairs and out of my life!!! First I bought an OHM meter, completely stripped down my dryer checking every part until I found one that was questionable (timer resistor assembly) and one that was definitely dead (a thermostat)...no reading! It's no wonder it was burnt out, the front cover of the dryer was impacted with lint that had no where else to go! Now I understand exactly why my mother & dad always reminded us to "clean out the lint filter". They must have gone through this once before themselves. I ordered the replacement parts late one evening and they showed up at my door by 2:00 pm the next day...it was awesome!!!!!! A big learning experience for me and it saved me a fortune. THANK YOU PartSelect, I couldn't have done it without you!!!!

Dryer stopped working
1- cleared all the ducts. (They were clogged and this is what caused the fuse to open)
2- Replaced the fuse from the kit
3- The dryer stopped working again after 1/2 hour -the fuse blew-up again
4- Altough the stat (the other part included in the kit) checked OK with the multimeter, it was actually defective and did not regulate the temp.
5- changed both parts included in the kit, the dryer worked normally again.

Dryer wouldn't shut off in Auto Dry modes
Very simple-remove 3 screws that hold the Control Panel on, remove the two connectors and replace with new part in reverse order. Unfortunately, this did not fix the problem. Will be ordering complete timer assembly.

My dryer stopped working i can hear the timer ticking but when i push the button and it does not start. Do you think it is the timer resistor assembly.... i don't quite understand how to test to see if this is the right part or not
For model number Pye2300ayw Maytag
PartSelect logo
Hi Dawnell, Thank you for your question. It sounds like it may be the timer. You will need to test it with a multimeter. Here is a link from our website that you may reference on how to test the timer, https://www.partselect.com/Dryer+test-timer+repair.htm. If it is not the timer causing the issue, there are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the the fuses, the belt, the door catch and strike, the timer resistor assembly, the high limit thermostat, the control thermostat and the door switch, the heating element and the drive motor. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hi ... is a timer resistor assembly supposed to have resistance or should it read 0 when probes are put on the two ends? thanks
For model number PYE2300AYW
PartSelect logo
Hello Don, thank you for your question. You should be able to read 3.7 K ohms resistance across the resistor, if not then it needs to be replaced. Good luck with your repair!

My dryer will not start. Could it be the timer resistor and if so, how do you test if it is good or bad?
For model number ADE7000AYW
PartSelect logo
Hello George, Thanks for your question. If the dryer is not starting, we would recommend using a multi-meter to test the high limit thermostat and thermal fuse (part number PS2162282) for continuity, and replacing it if it shows no continuity. Check the drive belt (part number PS346995) and see if it is damaged. If it is, replace it. Also consider testing the timer (part number PS11742813) for continuity and checking the wiring. Replace it if it shows no continuity. Finally, check the motor (part number PS3497647), especially if it makes any humming noise. Remove the belt from the motor and check the blower wheel for obstructions. If it is clear of obstructions, you may wish to replace the motor. I hope this helps.

Replaced both fuses on this electric model and can hear the timer clicking when turned on but no drum turn.
For model number PYE2300AYW
PartSelect logo
Hello Doug, Thank you for the question. In order to help we will need a bit more information. When you start the appliance do you hear the motor running or trying to run? Is there heat or no heat when you hear the timer running? Is there any noise other then the ticking of the timer? Please submit a new question if you have any follow ups.Looking forward to hearing from you!

Dryer will not start. I have checked the following with multimeter and all are good. 1. Thermal fuse. 2. Door switch. 3. Start switch. I have also replaced motor. What would be my next diagonostic test? Thanks
For model number 11096582100
PartSelect logo
Hello Clint, Thank you for your inquiry. I would also check your thermostats-both internal bias and high limit thermostat with thermal cut off, your timer switch, the belt and idler pulley assembly, and your power supply. Hope this helps!

The timer does not advance. I replaced the timer, and thermastat controller. The dryer runs
For model number HYE3658AYW

Hi Jason, Thank you for your question. If the timer is not advancing you will need to check the timer knob, the belt, the timer resistor and the timer. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I had heating element replaced and now timer is not working is it possible that it was disconnected when the element was replaced it was working fine before the replacement was done
For model number YE224LV
PartSelect logo
Hi Mary, Thank you for your question. The timer and the element are in different locations on the dryer. It is possible that the wiring may not have been reconnected correctly. You will need to check the wiring to make sure everything is correct. If it is, you will need to test the timer with a multimeter to see if it is working correctly. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I had the heating element replaced and now the timer does not work, is it possible that the timer was not connected back when the heating element was replaced because it was working fine before
For model number YE224LV
PartSelect logo
Hello Mary, thank you for your question. Yes it is possible that the timer was not connected correctly to the unit, or the connection wire is not on tightly. I would check the wires coming to the timer. If those wires are connected and on tightly, I would recommend replacing Timer Resistor Assembly WP31001484. I hope this helps!

Also, on this Maytag dryer, are there more than two thermal fuses or whatever? I found one above the heater coils and another one on the air exhaust near the blower wheel. Both test out at 0. Is there another something like this elsewhere??? thanks don
For model number PYE2300AYW
PartSelect logo
Hello Don, thank you for your question. There is one thermal fuse on the unit. The thermal fuse with the pink dot is for the electric dryer the one with the yellow dot is for gas dryers. I hope this helps!
