My freezer still is cold but my refrigerator is warm
For model number WRF989SDAW00
Hi Eric,
Thank you for your question. I would suggest checking your evaporator fan motor to see if it is still working correctly. It could be that it is not blowing the appropriate amount of cold air from the freezer into the fridge. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Freezer works. The refridgerator does not get cold. I had a repairman over and he had us unplug unit for 6 hours to defrost ice buildup. This did not help, although the ice did melt. He said fans seem to be working and he would need to replace the evap assembly. Is this the proper fix? The unit was 2 years old in november.

Hi William,
Thank you for your question. That unfortunately does not make much sense. If your evaporator coils were not working then your freezer would also not be getting cold. Your fan is what pushes the cold air through the air damper into the refrigerator to cool it. I would say check your defrost thermostat. It sounds more like you are having a defrosting issue. So ice is building up on your coils and air can't get through up to the fridge because there is too much ice blocking the way. You may also want to check your air damper as well. Make sure that the flap that blocks off the freezer from the fridge is not stuck in a closed position. You could also check your thermostats in your fridge if your defrost thermostat is testing fine. Other than that it may be your control board. I hope that helps William. Good luck with your repair.
Freezer working. Refigerator is not cold enough. I have replaced both evaporator fan motors. Refrigerator temperature dropped below 40, then started rising again. Is there a diagnostic test
For model number WRX988SIBM00
Hi Scott,
Thank you for your question. To verify if there is a diagnostic test for your refrigerator, you will need to consult your owner's manual. If the refrigerator is too warm, there are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the air filter, the damper control assembly, the refrigerator door gasket and the electronic control board. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Where does the evaporator motor go on this refrigerator? Freezer is cold and drawer is cold, but not the refrigerator.
For model number wrx988sibm01
Hello Jeffrey, Thank you for the question. The Evaporator Fan Motor for your appliance is PartSelect Number PS11770336 and is located at the back of the Freezer to circulate the Cold Air. We hope this helps!
Hello! Our Kitchenaid fridge works just fine overall,
but: in refrigerator compartment defrosting stopped working,
there is constant ice buildup around evaporator which I have to defrost manually. What could be the problem here?
BTW freezer defrosting works fine.
Thank you for any advice.

Hi Andrei, thank you for contacting us. According to our research, the issue is most probably with the fresh food section door gasket. Inspect the door gaskets for both the fresh food section doors and replace the damaged one to fix the issue. The compatible door gasket for your model is part number PS5573757. We hope that helps!
