This part is a replacement refrigerator drive shaft seal for your refrigerator. The drive shaft seal protects the auger motor from water and condensation that may leak down the drive shaft from the ice bucket. If the seal is broken, water and condensation can get in, causing the ice maker to fail. To replace the seal, first remove the ice bucket from your freezer. Then remove the two screws on the drive shaft holder, and use a pair of pliers to remove the drive shaft. At this point you can remove the seal from the drive shaft. Be sure to clean the area that the seal sits in before you reinstall the drive shaft. This part is white in color and is about an inch in diameter. The seal is sold individually.

I already have the part i just don't know how to install it. The old washer was torn and was not able to look how it was placed inside the tube.

Hello Arnel, Thank you for your inquiry. This seal goes onto the coupling. You need a quarter inch socket with ratchet and a pair of pliers. Open the freezer door, push the button on the ice bucket to release the latch and lift the ice bin out. Using the quarter inch socket, take the two screws of the coupling holder out and remove it. Using the pliers, pull out the auger motor drive shaft. Slide the seal off the end of the shaft, and place the new seal on the end. Slide the shaft back into the opening, then turn it slightly back and forth until you feel it engage with the auger motor. Put the coupling holder back into place and re-install the screws. Replace the ice bucket. Hope this helps!

Hi, my refridgerator is not defrosting like it should. The freezer seems to be fine, also the fan in the back is running freely. Could this be the defrost heater or what parts would you recommend?

Hello Lorelei, thank you for your question. There are a few parts we would recommend testing. The thermistor part number W10316760 located in the back of the freezer section where the evaporator fan motor is, the heater that sits under the evaporator pat number WP12729128, as well as the damper that allows air into the fridge from the freezer part number WPW10248595. If these parts are tested and are fine, you may have an issue with one of the electronic control boards in the unit. I hope this helps!

The freezer fans run all of time, except when the refer goes into a defrost cycle? The refer cycles normal and temps are good.Thanks!

Hi Terry. This is normal. During the defrost cycle the freezer wont have cold air so it does not make sense for the fan to run. As long as you have no other symptoms I would not worry. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.

Ice dispensing system is leaking when using for ice and/or water system. It's leaking and water spilled slowly on the floor.

My ice maker water supply freezes. If I unplug the appliance for an hour or two and cycle the ice maker control switch it will make ice for two or three cycles before the water supply line freezes again. Once this happens I can hear the pump but no water sound. I have the freezer set on the lowest possible temperature setting. A thermometer inside freezer shows inside temp staying near zero degrees even on lowest setting.
It appears to still defrost properly, I get a layer of ice occasionally underneath the bottom bin.
Suggestions?

I have a french door style refrigerator. The refrigerator was making a loud humming sound and my ice maker wasn't making ice and the noise seemed to get louder when the bottom freezer door was opened. Last week the noise quit and the ice maker would spit out a few pieces of ice at a time. I noticed the frozen food was thawing out yesterday. Two days ago i found water leaking out on the floor on the left side of the frig and directly under the ice maker inside the refrigerator. The water stopped leaking on the floor. The frozen food that is thawing out appears to be underneath the food that is still frozen. What would cause these issues?

Ice auger stripped, not turning
Very simple, just remove two bolts holding the auger, One note: the auger comes with a new drive coupling sleeve so it is not necessary to order one.
Upper coupling broken on Ice Bucket Assembly and inner segment and shroud broken on Chute Assembly.
I was disappointed you have to purchase the entire Ice Bucket Assembly in order to get the upper coupling. I also ordered the two seals and washer, only to find they are included in the Chute Assembly. The Chute was a little difficult to remove and reinstall. Other than that the Ice Bucket slides right in and the Chute Assembly requires 2 Phillips screws and 2 hex screws to be removed and reinstalled.
removed the drive shaft (6 sided) with seals and replaced it. They last for about 5 years and have to be rotated (flipped over) to continue to use. The shaft metal is a little softer than the drive socket on the motor which, over time will cause the six-sided (12 inch) shaft to round the edges due to torque and pressure on the mixing shaft inside the ice bucket the the door of the freezer.
Ice Maker Bucket would not rotate arm to dispense ice
This was a very easy repair. First, remove the Ice Bucket off the refrig door. Unfasten the white plastic shaft holder held in place by 2 hex head screws using a nut driver. Remove old shaft and insert the new shaft. Fasten back up with the holder and 2 hex head screws and install the ice bucket and you are ready to dispense ice again.
Simply took out old part, paying attention to how it comes out. Simply put the seal in, followed by the shaft and then place holder on and screw down with the two screws that were with the old part. Abrakadabra! Ice maker working like new!
Icecube dispencer stopped working because of lack of water seal on motor shaft.
I removed the ice bucket and motor cover on the inside of the left door. Then I removed the 4 screws that hold the motor in place and unplugged the electrical connector. The old motor shaft was all rusted and housing was cracked letting water inside the motor. That's why it failed. The new motor I ordered from Part select came with a rubber seal that I slipped on to the motor shaft. That will stop any water from entering the new dispencer motor. I reinstalled motor and the dispencer works great. Total time for removal and replace was 20 min. A novice can do it. Bill WI.
i took the cover plate off the inside of the freezer under the ice bin[two screws] then I disconnected the wiring harness, then removed the four screws to remove the motor and then put the new motor in and the ice dispenser dispensed ice. Less than 1/2 hour with only needing a nut driver,and a flashlight.
removed front cover to the ice maker. checked the electric motor to if it was frozen. Moved it back and forth. Still didn't work. Removed electric motor by removing four screws. Found that electric motor would work when laying on its side but not when correct position. Guessed it was a short in the motor but the motor is completely sealed so simply replaced the electric motor. Removing and replacing the motor took less than15 minutes. Motor and seals were less than $100.00
