Dishwasher Leaks At Heating Element. Missing Door Spring
I removed the wires from the heating element. I removed the 2 brass nuts that had split down the side. I replaced them with 2 new brass nuts. Tightened with a wrench. I then installed the missing door spring. The repair itself took about 5 minutes.
Well, first of all I want to thank you for letting me know there were two springs and also for showing the two springs because I had almost ordered from another site the official Frigidare site which did not show the other spring, the right one. I would have ordered the wrong spring. I got a spring from you with shipping (very fast Fed-X) for the price of their spring alone. Also, your site was very helpful in explaining how to put it on and advised to get two which I intended to but only ordered one, It was so easy. Beaucoup thanks!
Brass nuts holding heating element in place had split
All you have to do power down the unit, then disconnect the power connections at the element and remove the old nuts and replace them with the new ones and tighten. Don't tighten too much, the element has a rubber seal that just needs the nut to snug it up.
This dishwasher is pretty old and I live in a rental. When I moved in, the dishwasher leaked every time and it would had been nearly impossible to get the landlord to do any work. I read other repair stories on partselect and figured out it was the spray arm assembly. At some point the arm got detached and laid on top of the heater coil. Once it was melted and the water holes were distorted, the water shot at the door in some way to leak out the front. I replaced the part by just pushing the center part until it clicked on the bottom---- no tools were needed! The dishwasher works like a champ now. The dishes get clean the first time and no leaks on the floor. I read from other comments that the part was blue and it didn't match the original color. That wasn't as important as having a functional dishwasher. The delivery was delayed because of the health crisis, but once the warehouse sent an email that the part was shipped, I received it as was promised. All in all, I was pleased with the service and part. If there is another situation in the future, I would definitely consider using partselect again. Thank you
First remove the kick plate. Then look with a flashlight & mirror to make sure which, the spring and or the Spring Linkage are broken. With the door open, to have less tension on the spring, replace the spring and or the spring linkage. Attach the kick plate
Our dishwasher spray arm got stuck on a rogue dish and melted on the heating element
The spray arm simply clips to a base in the center of the dishwasher tub. The repair takes 30 seconds - the lower rack slides out, twist the base of the old spray arm to lift it off, and snap the new one on.
