wash timer would not advance
My guy got a beer and followed the advice from John from Covino CA. Thank you John, the part about pulling the pen sure made my guys repair a piece of cake! He replaced the timer and put the panel back on and I was doing a load of laundry immediately. My advice is follow John's advice!

Loud screeching metal sound from the back when dryer is running
This video by Steve Ash was spot on . In our case the white rear support bearing had melted and reformed around the shaft, preventing us from being able to pop the drum in the way described in the video. We used pliers to unscrew the screws on the rear clip from the back of the dryer. The rest of it worked exactly as described in the video. Our model was White-Westinghouse DE600ADD1, which is not a model listed on the PartsSelect website. However the part worked very well. The dryer runs really quite now.

cold water continued to run and water leaked all over garage floor
The original inlet valve comes in from the rear and the replacement inlet valve mounts horizontally and this will not allow the use of the valve mounting plate and I needed to make a new plate so the supply hose could mount. After making the new plate and having the supply hose attach vertically, the system appears to be functioning properly. Having to make a new mounting plate was an unexpected adventure!

No reheat
Pried the lid up and flipped it back then disconnected the front panel wiring harness and then popped the front panel loose at the top and dropped it down. Disconnected the ignition coils, removed the coil retainer bracket and replaced the coils. Reassembled it in reverse order, performed functional test. Success!

Dryer Made Loud Squeal During Operation
I set up my laptop with the partselect video going. Laid out my tools and the individual parts that were in the kit. I watched the video a segment at a time, performing the tasks in the same manner that the instructor did. All together, the process took less than two hours, I had no questions or difficulties, and the repair process went flawlessly and successfully. I had never done anything more complicated on a dryer than replacing the hose before this. The sense of pride in doing a repair of this level myself, and avoiding paying someone ridiculous fees to do it, is beyond description.
