S8757W1 Roper Range - Instructions

Replace the connector and bracket, spliced the wires, put heat to the schrink wrap and I was done.

lifted the cover, unscrewed the ceramic wire fastners, put the new part in, and voila, job done and working perfectly

I took the back off of the dryer and then removed the lint chute assembly. Next came the top removal which was a little tricky because the top locks were installed incorrectly from factory. After about 20 minutes for a 2 minute job, the top came off. Now I was able to remove the front and the drum. This left me access to the motor. The hardest part of the whole job was removing the blower wheel. Being made of plastic you must be careful not to brake it while grabbing hold of it and applying torque to the motor side. This process takes two people. My wife helped me and it took about 5 minutes. Leave the motor mounted for this. Once the wheel was off, the motor was then removed, the new one was installed and the process was reversed for assembly. Not very difficult overall and saved me a whole lot of money. Make sure you vacuum out all of the dust since you have the whole dryer apart. It will probably be the last time you see inside it and the dust sure builds up inside after 12 years! First I lifted the cooktop out of the countertop & removed the screws so I could access under the burners.Then I cut the wires for the old plug-in block & then stripped the wires.Next I connected the new wires with the wire nuts & then used a lighter to shrink wrap the wire nuts.Then I screwed in the new block & re-installed the screws for the cooktop.I put in the new burner & it worked just like new.

Turned off the power to the stove. Removed the 'burners' and 'burner' trays. Removed the screw that secured the bad block. Lifted the top of the stove. Cut the two wires to the bad block., stripped the wires about 1/2", slipped the shrink tube over the wires. Connected the new block with two porcelan wire nuts. slipped the shrink tube over the wirenuts and heated it with a lighter. Closed the top and secured the terminal block clip with a screw. Turned the power back on: voila!

All the necessary parts came in the repair kit, delivery was timely. Very easy project.

Assembled the block parts.
Installed shrink sleve and applied wire nuts to electrical connection to 2 wires then shrunk the sleve.
Did the above procedure for 2 heating elements.
They work very well now.

Removed burner and tray. Removed burner connector from stove top using screw driver.
Removed existing heat shrink and wirenuts.
Installed new connector - wire nuts and heat shrink. Used lighter to shrink.
Took 20 minutes.

I had bought the 1st set of plug-in blocks at lowes, They were the only type they had the univeral ones! They did not hold the elements plug tight enough and half the time they would have to be punshed in more then they would snap and sizzle- I ordere the newer style and they have done great they are better made and heavier metal parts- they elements fit in snuggly and do not sizzle or nor do I have to push the element in. This stove is 35 years old and I have replaced most everything on it. But it's still cooking...

Read earlier posts on the change out of motor with times varying from 30min to days. My ordeal was in the days category. Long story short, I could not get the blower off. The back of the blower has flats to use a adjustable wrench and you can use a socket on the back of the motor. I rounded off the flats on the blower and had to cut it off. Since I had only ordered the motor, I had to then order blower. If you can get the blower off the motor is about a 30min to 1 hr job. I would suggest purchasing the blower along with the motor to save some time.

Was informed that I had a bad dryer motor and no warranty. Unplugged the unit. Removed to screws in the lint trap slot. Used a small blade screw driver to pop the 2 clips at the front of the dryer top. Lifted the top and rested it up against the wall. Removed 2 screws holding the machine front panel. Removed the front panel and removed the tub. Couldn't get the blower loose from the dryer motor so I cut it off with a hacksaw. Moral if you are going to replace the motor go ahead and by the blower too. It is less than $20.00. Popped 2 clamps loose holding the motor in and removed it. Placed the new motor in the unit. Strapped it down and attached the new blower. Plugged it in, put the dryer back togehter and tried it. It worked.

Removed old block , cut off wires , used new wire nuts, heat shrink , supplied with parts , job done lowered range top went fishing ...

The directions were very clear. I removed the heating element, detached the plug-in block by unscrewing the screw, then cut the wires about 3 inches from the block. I put the shrink-wrap collars around the wires leading to the new block, then attached the wires to the cut ends of the wires leading to the back of the stove, using the connectors provided in the kit. I couldn't get the collars to shrink as much as shown in the picture. I attached the new block to the stove top using the screw, plugged in the heating element, and it worked!
So the instructions were good, and the heating element is now working. The only problem was the heat shrink collars that go around the connectors: I couldn't get them to shrink much, but that doesn't seem to matter.

First I removed the rear panel of the control sectio and the main rear panel. I checked the switches and fuses. The fuse for the dryer vent was giving an intermittent signal, so I replaced it with one I picked up at a local repair shop.
Since I had started working on it, and due to the age, I went ahead and ordered a motor, belt, and drum rollers and replaced these as preventive maintenance.
Once you realize how everything comes apart, it is not a very dificult job to overhaul the complete dryer.

Read instuctions first Turn breaker off to stove or unplug to be sure. Remove burner and drip pans. Remove scews holding socket in place if you are doing more than one make sure you keep in same location. Raise cook top untill supports latch in. Assemble plug it comes with two types holder compare to your plug. cut wire to old plug so you have enough wire to connect back with new. Strip wire back and place shrink tubeover wires wire nut together heat with a lighter or heat gun then do remaining plugges. place back in cover and replace scews. make sure wire are not to long to get under burner when cook top lowered. Lower cook top and clean burner plug ends with a little sandpaper to make sure they make good connection. replace pans and burner. turn on breaker or plug in stove making sure the burners come on when turned on good luck g.d.
