JFC2089HES Jenn-Air Refrigerator - Instructions

After locating and ordering the part on this web site, it arrived in LESS THAN 24 hours. First remove the pantry drawer and the crisper drawers and their glass shelves in order to have room to work. The old part was secured with only 2 of the 3 available screws (cost savings or sloppy assembly) using a 1/4" nutdriver. The next tricky part is removing the entire right pantry end cap which at that point still includes the temperature control slider. This is done by carefully rotating the front of the assembly towards the center of the refrigerator. There is a tab at the rear which will come loose as you rotate. You don't have to force anything. Once you have the whole thing out on a table, carefully remove the slider assembly, noting how it comes apart. A quick picture may help you. Do not force anything or you will have to buy more parts. Use a screwdriver to remove the drawer slide and attach it to the new pantry end cap. Replace the slider parts onto the new pantry cap in the same order that you removed them. To replace the assembly, first insert the tab into the back of the refrigerator, then rotate the assembly back towards the right side. Finally, replace the attachment screws. Be sure to clean everything while it is out. If it is like ours there were lots of drips and crumbs.

Unplugged appliance. Using a small putty knife I moved the switch out far enough to grab it with pliers. Moved wiring to new switch and pushed into place after testing.

Took ice maker out all together we removed 4 to 5 screws had to remove axel to get the broken piece out and new one in my husband said it was easy in and out in about 15 minutes saved about 150. 00 Thanks partslect

This part was very easy to replace. Actual time to remove the tubing and wiring harness and then replace and reinstall tubing and wiring was probably less than 3 minutes. Just be sure to mark each tubing prior to removing so you can reinstall in the correct fitting. In my case, the most difficult and time consuming task was removing the refridgerator rear access panel because I had to do all this through the motorhome exterior access panel which is probably about 10" by 10". Replacing the actual valve was very simple. Quick shipping too to our campground.

After plugging in the new relay to no avail. I replaced the thermostat. That fixed the problem.

Replaced icemaker by using total kit. Watched youtube video put on by partselect folks. Very easy to follow.

The parts arrived as expected, and well packed. Replacing the crisper drawer was, obviously, easy--just switch the food over and slide it in. The pantry end cap had a broken peg on the hinge cover, so wouldn't open properly without falling off. It was a little more involved, with a total of 5 screws, but I followed the instructions and video already posted on this website, and had no trouble! Gave me a good excuse to wipe down the inside of the fridge. Both repairs plus the cleaning took me about 25 minutes.

I viewed the previous instructions people had posted to replace the water valve. I did not have to cut any hoses. The valve I replaced was like the new valve. I was able to pull the hoses out of the old valve by pushing down on the collar around the hoses. The hoses popped out with a little bit of a pull. Attaching the new hoses was very easy. The whole thing probably took about 20 min. This DIY job saved me hundreds of dollars.

I checked the part number and an exact replacement was ordered. The old unit was removed and what I failed to note was that the water supply hose for the new unit entered from the side. Further examination showed a small "break-out" piece at the rear of the unit. but I still had to do something about the hole in the side. I used a piece of metal tape to close off that hole, trimmed it to size, and installed the unit. It was really an easy install after I figured out what to do about the hole. Evidently, this unit is mounted on the side of the freezer compartment in some models. Reading the reports of others was a big help.

I removed the cover panel. There is a clip that holds the relay and capacitor to the pump. Use a screwdriver to pry it off. Unplug the relay. The capacitor is plugged into the relay and they come together which was a surprise, I thought I only ordered the relay. Unplug a cable from the relay. Insert that cable into the new relay and plug it into the compressor. Reattach the clip. One be important instruction. Unplug the refrigerator for at least 8 hours before installation to allow the compressor to cool down. I tried first without allowing the compressor to cool and it did not work. After letting it cool I tried again and it worked like charm. Make sure the refrigerator is unplugged when doing the repair

I followed the video and advice from the many others on this site and only have a few additional comments. First, the decorative cover on the front of the old unit is held on with two plastic teeth on the top and bottom of the cover. This was not at all apparent and it took me awhile to figure it out. I used a sharp knife to pry up the top edge until the teeth lost their grip on the metal notches in the old unit. Second, don't try to pull the cables out of the front of the old unit before removing that cover. It is held in with a plastic snap that must be depressed after the cover is removed. The video does a good job explaining how to remove the old metal arm and attach it to the new unit so that it will recognize the ice level in the bucket. Finally, don't bother looking around the web site for a button that enables you to add to these comments. You'll be contacted by email in a week or two for that.

followed the video as instructed. Saved two repairman calls, one to find the problem, one to install. Net savings was about $130.00

Popped the cover to expose the part. Then removed two screws and unplugged the part. Exchanged the new part for the old. Plugged the new part in and replaced the screws And the cover.

Unplugged the refrigerator.Removed the nut on the front bottom side from the support bracket with a nut driver.Pull down and out the old icemaker but not clear out to remove the electrical connector reaching to the back . Re-used the old front cover and the wire support clips and the wire connector assembly.Also put the shut off wire on the new icemaker.Re-installed in reverse sequence and waited for ice cubes to be made.Make sure the water line coming in the back goes to the ice tray.
