HSS25IFMDWW Hotpoint Refrigerator - Instructions

I watched the video on the PartSelect.com website and decided to give it a try. The replacement of the flapper was even easier than I anticipated! The old flapper was extremely warped and was allowing air into the freezer. I'm not sure how/why it was in that condition but I am happy to report that I have no more ice buildup. Thank you, PartSelect!

1)unplug the refrigerator from the wall 2)simply opened up the back panel by removing the screws with a nutdriver. 3)disconnected all the prong connections one at a time. 4)take new control board and reattach all prongs and green ground wire.5)reinstall rear panel 6)plug in refrigerator.

I follow the instructions on your video to change the mother board and the Ice auger motor. The repair was as easy as the video and just as simple....Thank you.

Unplugged the unit from the wall and pulled it out enough to gain to the panel on the rear of the appliance to the main control board. Even though it was not necessary, I took pics with my phone to be sure I would get it all reconnected back right. Removed all wires from the old control board being careful not pull wires from the connectors. Some were a bit stubborn to remove, but eventually they all relented and came off. Removed the old board from the retaining clips. After examination of the board, it definitely showed signs of an electrical short/burn on the back. Inserted new board onto the retaining clips. The new board was slightly different from the original and came with instructions that should not be ignored. Depending on the model of your appliance there may be wires to cut. I didn't cut the wire though, I just removed it from the clip and taped it. Reassembled all remaining connectors on the board and moved to the front of the freezer to replace the Defrost Thermostat and Temp Sensor. Removed all shelving and light cover to gain access to the screws needed to remove the panel covering the area needed. Located the thermostat and by the looks of it, it definitely needed replacing as well. Disconnected thermostat from the coil line it was clipped to. Cut the wires and reconnected the new thermostat. I don't know if it was necessary or not, but I went ahead and replaced the temp sensor that was also located near the thermostat. Put it all back together and plugged it in for the test. I like to say this corrected my issues, but I still had a problem. The freezer was working perfectly now, but the fridge side refused to get cold. I eventually fixed that problem as well by installing a defrost heater and a temp sensor on the fridge side.

Change thermostat and temperature sensor in the freezer section, but did not resolved the problem. Ordered the Main Control Board. After replaced the Main Controller Board. Refrigerator is back to normal.

Took out the old ice tray and slipped in the new one! Easy Peasy!

I watched the video then ordered the defrost timer it was here in two days (ordered late saturday arrived tuesday). Spent $. 16 On two wire nuts and went to work . The repair took one hour including defrosting the coils with a hair dryer . Your website is my " go too " for parts and repair. I spent less than $20 including shipping !

I received the new board 6 days after making order. Very simple task. Unplug refrigerator. Removed 3 screws holding cover on back panel. Disconnected 4 wiring harness/connectors. Using needle nose pliers, I compressed the 4 plastic tabs that hold the board to the frame. I did one tab at a time and as I compressed the tab, I pulled the board away from the tab. I connected the harness/connectors to the new board before mounting on tabs. The new board had been updated and had 6 areas for connectors, just match the correct connectors to plugs, they only fit one way. Install cover plate, but remember to connect the new ground wire (green) to one of the cover mounting screws. Plug in unit and and give atleast 12 hours prior to adjusting the tempature controls.

This was very easy to do.. :D Even a woman can do it.. :D I did this and it only took me just about 5 minutes.. No problem at all. :D

Since my refrig is 18 yrs. old and I never had to replace it, took a little long to remove trim piece on the outside. After that repair went smoothly. I still have problem with water collecting inside on the bottom of the freezer, might have a leak somewhere. Ice maker is functioning correctly.

luckly i have a bit of experience in refrigeration im an hvac technician by trade. this repair was a bit tricky in that i did not know at first if it was a Temperature Sensor issue or the main control board. I had tested the defrost termination thermostat and the defrost heater and as i suspected they were ok. Next i wanted to test the thermistors (temp sensors) it is hard to find technical data on these fridges. I needed to test the thermistors resistance @ a certian temperature to ensure they were working properly but where do u get such data? I also wanted to know some information about the logic programmed into the board (i.e when do you initiate defrost etc. . .). I had no such luck so i figured since i tested the defrost heater and thermostat and they were ok and all of the evap fans and such were working i'd order a circuit board and new thermistors. Got the CORRECT PARTS from this site in 2 business days and my fridge is working great! changing the parts was really easy, figuring out which parts to change was the only difficult thing about this job.

I simply followed the video instructions and it was a breeze, so easy I couldn't believe it . The GE repairman where going to charge me approx. $265. 00 for this repair and another service person wanted to charge me $ 100.00 just to remove and replace these items that I purchased from you . The experience was great as well as the SAVINGS, Thanks again for your professional service.
