Frame broke in several places. It had been assembled inncorrectly at the factory.
Took pictures of broken frame before removal. Parts from the old frame had to be used on the new frame. Replacement was straight forward and not difficult.

The vent grille frame was broken. How? The vent was loose and not operating properly .
Removed the screws holding the frame to the microwave and all the screws holding the front stainless vent part. Reattached the vent to the new plastic frame and microwave. I only used a screwdriver.

Vent over top of microwave wouldn't close
I found the replacement parts by the drawings on the website. The drawings are excellent and very easy to follow. Ordered what I needed and read the previous comments to see how to dismantle the vent and replaced the part. It was slot simpler than expected. Thanks to part select for a great experience.

plastic screw holes broke off of original part
replaced existing ancillary parts and installed vent. Very easy repair and I saved 35% on part from manufacturer msrp.

Vent Grill Frame Just Fell Apart
I contacted ge , with absolutely no help, thanks to part select I was able to order the part and received it within 4 days it was very easy to take apart, first unscrew the small phillips screw on the top right side , then slide the vent grill to the left and gently pull away from the microwave, that's about it and install in the same manner.

Grille holding venting mechanism broke
First, I removed the two phillips screws on the top of the microwave. Then I was able to take the venting mechanism off of the microwave. I unscrewed all of the parts attached to the broken plastic vent and reattached them to the new plastic vent. Once all the parts were on, I simply put the venting mechanism back onto the microwave and placed the two phillips screws back to hold it in place. Lastly, I reattached the springs that allow the vent to close. A simple job done in less than 15 minutes.

i was using the microwave one evening, and the vent door in the top front of the oven just snapped, and pieces were every where, plastic, springs, little metal hinges, and i just stared in amazement.
first thing i did was to mistakenly go to GE's website to order the part, after the part was sent to me broken, and that was in february, i finally received the reimbursement for the part 4 months later. the part was $40.00 less on your site than GE's.
Overall, there were two screws that held the old grille in place, i removed them, and reassembled all of the springs and then reattached. i am so thankful that i found your website, and will do business with you again! Chuck Luton
