How do i remove the trimmer head from the gearbox.
For model number Tc80ec troybuiltweed eater
Hi Gary, Thank you for your question. To remove the trimmer head you have to unscrew the bumper counter clockwise and then pull that piece off. From there you would simply just pull the trimmer head off. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

I'm having trouble unscrewing the bumper. Its caused so much trouble i've looked at just buying a new one. Any suggestions on taking it off before i do that?

Hello Jesse, thank you for your question. The bumper knob is just threaded onto the shaft, it should unscrew from the spool head. Here is a video that might help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4ZLEfIeF1Q

Part was easy to install and works. Design is terrible...tall grass gets caught between metal housing and spinning plastic part. Line gets consistently caught inside housing and will not extend when tapped. Spend more time fiddling w/line feed than doing work!!! Very frustrating.
