Part was easy to install and works. Design is terrible...tall grass gets caught between metal housing and spinning plastic part. Line gets consistently caught inside housing and will not extend when tapped. Spend more time fiddling w/line feed than doing work!!! Very frustrating.

Perfect match

I disassembled the gear box and filled it with heavy duty lithium gearbox/bearing grease to improve the function and longevity of the assembly then reassembled and my string trimmer is working like new .

How do i remove the trimmer head from the gearbox.
For model number Tc80ec troybuiltweed eater

Hi Gary, Thank you for your question. To remove the trimmer head you have to unscrew the bumper counter clockwise and then pull that piece off. From there you would simply just pull the trimmer head off. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

I'm having trouble unscrewing the bumper. Its caused so much trouble i've looked at just buying a new one. Any suggestions on taking it off before i do that?
