Do you have to remove all of the outer panels to access this part??? i cannot see where the part may be? is there a view that shows the part in position? thank you john t.
For model number JVM3160DF2WW
Hi John,
Thank you for your inquiry. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. Then use a Philips head screw driver to unthread the screws securing the grill. Pull the grill forward from the top to remove. Open the oven door and remove the mounting screws securing the control panel. Lift the control panel up to detach. Note the orientation of the wires connected to the control board and then depress the locking tabs to disconnect the wires. Free the hinge tab from the front panel and remove the screw and washer securing the grounding wire. Next remove the screws securing the plastic control panel backing. Detach the control board wires from the channel, release the sensor wire and set the backing aside. Reach in and detach the cavity thermostats from the mounting tabs. Depress the locking tabs to disconnect the wires to fully release the old thermostat. Install the new thermostat by first connecting the wires. Slide the thermostat onto the mounting tabs. Reattach the sensor wire to the control panel backing then align the wire and the control board wires in the correct channels. Reposition the backing and replace the screws to secure. Reinstall the the control panel by first securing the grounding wire with the screw and washer. Insert the hinge tab into the front panel and reconnect the remaining wires to the correct terminals on the board. Insert the control panel tabs into the front panel slots and push the panel down. Replace the mounting screw to secure. Realign the grill and snap it into place and secure it with the screws. Plug the microwave back in and it should now work for you. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Is this thermostat normally open or normally closed. Do i get continuity at room temperature?
For model number Jvm3160RF4SS
Hello Matthew, thank you for your question. This is a Single pole thermostat mounted on R.H. side duct in control compartment. Contacts close at approximately 158°F. Per the service sheet. I hope this helps.

I have question regarding, microwave showing no power
For model number JVM3160DF3BB
Hello Jerry, Thank you for the question. If there is power going to the Microwave but the appliance is not powering on, We suggest Microwave Fuse. Fuse protects the microwave from damage by shutting off the microwave if there's a power surge. When blown it will not allow the appliance to power on. We hope this helps!
We mistakenly set the timer for 5 minutes instead of 50 seconds for cooking. The microwave shut down and will not come back on. I checked the main breaker, the wall switch and main fuse in the microwave. All were OK. The microwave main fuse had continuity. Could it be the thermostat? Not sure what to look for.
Thank you.

Hi Mark, thank you for reaching out. Yes, the issue is most probably with the faulty thermostat. We would recommend checking the thermostats, part number PS8767141, PS8754624, to fix the issue. Good luck with this repair!
