Lower Handle End Cap - Stainless Steel Specifications

This is a lower handle end cap for a microwave door. It covers the end of the microwave door handle. The cap measures approximately 2 inches by 2.5 inches and is stainless steel. It is located at the lower end of the door handle. This is an authentic OEM replacement part. It is recommended to get a technician to replace this part because your microwave door contains shielding components. Replacing this part on your own may cause leaks in the door. Your microwave should be tested for leaks in the microwave shield to ensure safe operating of your appliance.

Handle fell off due to broken handle end cap/brackets
I ordered new "stainless" upper and lower handle end caps -the caps (brackets) are actually coated plastic, not steel. With age they became brittle and broke resulting in handle coming off unit.
Repair was pretty straight forward:
1. unclip door wiring harness
2. remove door
3. unscrew door back plate
4. remove spring loaded door latch
5. remove handle by unscrewing handle caps from the back side of the door.
5. remove screw attaching old handle cap(s) from handle and replace with new cap(s)
6. remount handle on door (reverse of step 5). Note that on my unit the handle mounting area on the door was torn away leaving a large hole. I used a large washer to span the hole in the door in order to remount the handle. New doors were not available on this model thus the jerry rig.
7. reassemble door back plate and latch
8. remount door and attach wiring harness

Lower Door handle broke
Used spatula to remove inner door plastic beauty-ring to get to the eight (?) screws that hold the door together. Removed enough of the eight screws to gain BETTER access to the screw needed to secure the lower door handel. Secured door handle then reassembled door.

How to disassemble door to install lower end cap on door handle
For model number EI30BM55HSB
PartSelect logo
Hello Gary, Thank you for your question. You will need to open the door and carefully pry the door frame loose from the top, handle end, and bottom. It is not necessary to completely remove the frame to access the door handle screws. The screws hold the end caps in place. When they are removed, the handle can be removed. Hope this helps!

I can pry off the piece on the inside of the door as you suggested to another customer, and then i can see the screws, but there is another part that goes around that area that blocks me from getting the screw out. How do i remove that piece?

Hello Michael, thank you for your question. If you're speaking about the inner door frame, there should be two screws at the top that hold that to the front door. I hope this helps.
