A perfect replacement part appears to be which of an improved design.
I received the part the next day as promised--with over-night shipping. Fridge is working like new after repair. The hardest part of the repair was removing the front escutcheon to gain access to the defective part. After that, it was an easy repair. Replacing the defective thermostat saved me well over $1,000 for an equivalent new appliance.

Thermostat replacement after correct diagnosis.
The part was an exact replacement accept for wire configuration which doesn't matter. It's just an on off switch for compressor. New switch is marked with an "L" which I took for the line symbol and put the red wire on that terminal. Works perfect. Took special care not to kink capillary tube. Set frig to factory settings.

New part different from original.
The part did arrive in good time and condition. However, it is not identical to the original. Fasteners lined up fine as did connection to temperature control slider. But, the electrical connection posts are of different orientation. Thus there was no clear way to know which wires went to which post. So I guessed. As it is the temps are as they should be. Freezer approximately 0 to -6. Fridge 35-38. Trouble is the temp adjustment slider has no effect. With a fridge full of food and no alternative I went ahead with installation. OK for the moment, but....

Good part, great video
The replacement thermostat worked as expected but I could have gotten it from multiple sources. I bought it from these guys because they had a great video that showed me how to install it.

Obviously it took awhile for frig to get completely back to freezing and cold temp. Remember frig has not ran for days. Compressor cycles correctly now also.

Refrigerator quit cooling, freezer defrosted making a huge mess in kitchen floor
First, verified power supply. I have power at wall outlet, no power at compressor. Also noticed no condenser fan operation. Searched YouTube and watched a few diagnostic videos of how to test for proper operation of my model. Dropped the control panel down to reveal the thermostat switch and control board. Wiggled thermostat knob and comp

Take your time installing new capillary tube into plastic sheath as not to kink and damage tube. Route the new tube back into position that the old one was in. Reinstall covers. NOTE: My wiring terminals on the new switch were in different locations but the switch was the same dimensions. I used a multi-meter to determine the correct wire locations on new switch and installed. Reconnected power and all works well now.

freezer freezes but refridge is warm
refridge never cooled good, replaced termostat and circuit board, works great probably over kill but better than waiting on parts. Remove the front panel strip where the temperature adjustment lights show, use a thin screw driver to pot the strip out along the top. ... Read morethe wires attached to allow access to the thermostat. Use a Phillips screw driver to remove the side cover where the temperature probe runs along the left hand side to the unit, one screw. You will find the temperature probe inside plastic tubing running to the back of the unit where it is wrapped around a Styrofoam holder with three plastic retainer clips on the top and bottom. Unplug the thermostat from its electrical connection. You may want to unplug the unit’s wall plus as this is 110 volt connection. Remove the two screws holding the thermostat to the plastic control panel; remove the fiber optic connection to the light strip that runs across the top of the thermostat. Remove the temperature probe from the 6 clips and pull the entire unit out. Remove the plastic tube from the old temperature probe and slide it over the probe from the new thermostat. The probe is approximately 26 inches long and you must take care not to crimp it as you slide it in the plastic tubing(warm the plastic tube with a hair dryer to reduce stiffness at the bend). Plug the wires into the new thermostat and reassemble.

The refrigerator have problem to turn on and you hit the thermostat area and and turn on
For model number KSR25FKH17
Hello Angel, Thank you for the question, I suggest checking the wires to make sure they are secure on the thermostat. If the wiring is good the Thermostat will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Just started a few days ago... normally freezer 0 degrees and fridge at 34 and suddenly freezer at 32 and fridge at 45. played with slide switch for fridge temp, banged on front panel, started working and both cold... next day, same thing. did the same, moving slider roughly back and forth, left on Max, everything got frozen cold... later or next day, same.
thermostat switch not moved in 10 years, always the same place, no issues.
do you think it's the thermostat or control board or both? or something completely different? it's working now, but no confidence it will stay permanently.
For model number ED2KHAVT01
Hello Danny, thank you for inquiring. For this symptom you will want to consider either the Capacitor part PS11757023, the Bi-Metal Defrost Thermostat part PS11750673, or the Relay and Overload Combination part PS11749877. We hope this helps.

I purchased a replacement thermostat for my Maytag side by refrigerator. Part number WP2315562. The new OEM part has the electrical connections side by side and the the original one has them top and bottom. The new thermostat has the connections labeled C and L and the old is not labeled. My wires are orange and red. Which wire goes on each connector.
Thanks
For model number MSD2572VEW01
Hi John, thank you for the question. Based on our research, the red wire goes on the L terminal, while the other goes on the C terminal. We hope this helps!

Replaced the original thermostat with WP2315562. The probe wire is longer than the original. Can such wire be cut to desired lenght? So far I installed it as is by making extra loops in the casing
For model number Kitchenaid KTRP20KDWH00
Hi Dino, thank you for the question. Based on our research, you can not cut it. It is a pipe containing liquid under pressure, not a wire. You may need to coil up the excess out of the way. We hope this information helps!

Whirlpool side by side. 13 years old.
The Freezer is working fine but the refrigerator is getting to cold. 30 degrees. I have placed the settings to the factory recommended settings and it didn't help. The freezer will react if the settings are changed but not the refrigerator. I replaced the thermostat 2 years ago and that fixed the problem(power but not getting cold). It feels like there is always cold air coming in through the vent in the refrigerator even if I slide the control to the lowest setting. What do you think the problem is?
Thanks,
For model number ED5LTAXVL01
Hello David, thank you for reaching out. Based on our research, we would recommend checking the damper control assembly, part number PS11749091, to solve the problem. We hope this helps!
My whirlpool side by side refrigerator stopped working. When I reset it, it starts up and begins to cool but then shuts down again. Your suggestions? I’m thinking it’s the capacitor or the defrost thermostat?
For model number ED5FHEXSS03
Hello Frank, thank you for getting in touch. Based on our understanding, the issue is most probably with the run capacitor, part number PS11757023. It provides the voltage or the energy current that is required to start the compressor and keep it running. We would recommend replacing it to fix the problem. Glad to be of help!
Things in frig are freezing. Door between freezer and frig is working ok.
For model number ed5lvaxwq00
Hello Dennis, thank you for your question. We would recommend replacing the Thermostat
Part Number: WP2315562. If that doesn't fix the issue there could be a problem with the defrost cycle parts like the defrost heater, thermostat, or defrost control board. I hope this helps!

The items on top shelf of fridge are frozen, but the shelves below are not. What could be the issue?
For model number ED5FHEXSS00
Hi Andrew, thank you for contacting us. Based on our research, the issue could be most probably with the air diffuser assembly, part number PS11749090. It controls the amount of cold air distributed through the refrigerator. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. Glad to be of help!
I have noticed that my whirlpool side by side runs most of the time. It is not shutting off like it used to unless it goes into defrost(about 20 mins). The freezer and fresh food temps are fine. The thermostat and the defrost thermostat have been replaced so that is not the problem unless one of them has gone bad. I have cleaned the coils and checked for door seal leaks and both are OK. Fans seem to work well and there is no ice building up. The refrigerator is 13 years old and I was hoping to keep it running and to make it last 20 years but reality says it may be better to just replace it. Any suggestions?
For model number ed5ltax01
Hello Dave, thank you for your question. We do suggest the Thermostat PS11740364 or the Refrigerator Thermostat Sensor Barrier PS11739216. The thermostat sensor barrier covers and insulates the temperature control thermostat capillary tube. We hope this helps.
