This basket drive assembly is for washers. Basket drive assembly sits on top of the transmission shaft and houses the spin basket brake mechanism. The basket drive spins to rotate the basket during the spin cycle.

After each spin down, there is a loud clunk/bang. The washer makes it through all cycles fine (i did notice that clothes are a little wet near bottom). Could this be the clutch? The spindle/clutch? Both? ... (i thought about pump, but it does work). there is no other noise, so i didn't think it bearing or coupling. ideas?

Hello Ed, thank you for your question. From the description of your problem, the issue is most likely the Direct Drive Basket Drive Kit with Clutch W10820043. I would suggest replacing the whole kit instead of just the clutch. The issue is usually compounded, and once the clutch is installed other issue with the drive start coming up. I hope this helps!

Having issue w if load a little heavy basket doesnt spin out if i hand turn basket sometimes i can get it spin out. .What part do i need
For model number Lsq9010pw0
Hello Jeanette, thank you for your question. We would recommend replacing the Direct Drive Basket Drive Kit with Clutch PartSelect Number: PS11723156. A worn clutch can cause a slower spin speed which will leave your clothes wet after a cycle. Please enter the part number into the site for current price and availability. Good luck with your repair!

Machine makes a whining noise in spin cycle and during this makes a cracking noise. If you manually run the machine and hold the agitator all noise stops.

Hi David,
Thank you for your question. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the clutch assembly, the drive block, the suspension springs, and the tub wear pads. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

We have replaced the clutch and transmission at the suggestion by a repair tech. Unit will agitate, drain and will spin without cloths/load. But if we run a normal load the cloths come out very wet, unit will not spin with a load?
For model number CAM2742TQ3
Hi Gary,
Thank you for your question. Well the clutch and the transmission are two of the main parts that you would look at when having a problem like that. The only other thing that I could think of would be that your motor needs to be changed. You could take a look at your hub, make sure that it has not worn down at all, which would make the transmission not catch. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hi my wash machine makes a loud rattling sound when the spin cycle starts. It isn't a steady rattle, it has a rhythm, like rattle, rattle, rattle, etc. As the drum picks up speed, so does the rattle. When it nears full speed, the rattling sound gets less loud and then goes away. I also notice that when the machine is done, sometimes the basket spins freely, other times it doesn't spin. It normally would not spin when it is off. The machine seems to be washing the clothes properly, other then on very few occasions the clothes felt a little more damp then usual. Thanks, ron

I have a Maytag centennial, m# mvwc6esww1 and s# cy2942533. Our washer runs through its normal cycle, but at the end when spinning not all of the water is out of the clothes. Its almost like the rpm of the washer isnt spinning fast enough to "throw" the water off the clothes. Any suggestions on parts that would fix this? I have checked the pump and there are no obstructions and the drain line is free as well of any debris. Thanks in advance.
For model number MVWC6ESWW1
Hello David, thank you for your question. We would recommend checking the drain hoses, and drain pump for any obstructions preventing the water from being completely drained when in the final cycle. If there are no obstructions, check the motor coupling part number Part Number: PS1485647 for any wear and tear as well as the clutch assembly part number PartSelect Number: PS11745785. If these parts are ok, the next step would be to test/replace the Direct Drive Basket Drive Kit with Clutch PartSelect Number: PS11723156 and motor PartSelect Number: PS11743427. I hope this helps!

My Whirlpool washer will agitate but the basket won't spin. The motor couplers are in tact, do you think this would be a clutch problem? Thank you
For model number LSN2000PW4
Hi Joe, thank you for your question. Yes, your clutch could be the issue. You may also want to check your lid switch and your gearcase itself as well. Those two parts can also cause the problem. However the parts that go more often are the driver coupling and clutch. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hello, my washer just started making a medium loud higher pitched whine noise only when the water is dumping. Still drains successfully however. I suspect it might be the drain pump, and it is the original pump from 1993. Would this be correct, and are there any other parts i should change at same time? Only agitator cogs and fill/drain valve have ever been replaced. Thanks.
For model number 11092272100
Hi Timothy, Thank you for the question. I would agree the pump will need to be replaced. For routine maintenance the Direct Drive Motor Coupling, PartSelect Number: PS1485646 can wear out over time. Also the springs PartSelect Number PS11743345, PartSelect Number PS11751118 and PartSelect Number PS394983 are a popular part to be replaced from wear over time. The wear pads PartSelect Number PS334620 are also a popular part for wear. Hope this helps!

This stacked washer/dryer makes a loud grinding sound on the spin cycle only. I also am finding a black powder substance on the floor under the back of the washer when i move it out. What part do i need and how do i access it to replace it ?
For model number 110.98575120
Hello Frank, thank you for writing. We would recommend checking the Centerpost Bearing and Seal Assembly Part Number: PS334447, Centerpost Gasket Part Number: PS11723081 and Drive Block - 2 5/16" High Part Number: PS11741977, and Clutch Assembly Part Number: PS334641. The most likely cause of the noise and the black powder is the centerpost gasket, bearings and seals. I hope this helps!
