This control rod is designed for use with various models of edgers and is a genuine OEM part sold without any securing hardware such as bolts or pins. By moving the rod, you can raise or lower the level at which the edger cuts, which is important when different soils require different cutting depths. If you notice that the control rod is hard to move, inspect it for rust, corrosion, bends, or general damage, at which point it will likely need to be replaced. To prevent having to replace this control rod more frequently, make sure to adequately lubricate any connected parts attached to the rod, as well as generally keep the part(s) clean. To replace the control rod on your edger, you will need a wrench and pliers to disconnect the bolts and hair pins securing the rod to their control handle. At this point you can remove the old rod and install the new one, and the rest of the depth controlling assembly.
