A ball bearing is a type of rolling part that consists of an inner and outer-ring, and a set of steel balls fit between them that allow rotational movement with reduced amounts of friction. This ball bearing is designed for use within the crankcase of various models of small engine equipment such as generator, tiller and lawn mower/tractor, and is used to support the crankshaft so it can rotate smoothly and withstand the various mechanical pressures sounding it. This bearing is sold as an individual OEM part and features a 0.68-inch (17mm) inner-diameter, 1.38-inch (35mm) outer-diameter and .47-inch (12mm) width. If you notice any sort of excessive vibrations, noise, wobbling, or significantly reduced engine performance, the ball bearing is likely worn out or damaged, and in need of replacing, but it is best to inspect the crankcase area for any other possible issues. To replace this bearing, you will need a screwdriver and socket wrench to gain access to the inner portion of your engine, where the crankcase is located. Disconnect the spark plug and follow the user manual and the official disassembly procedure according to the manufacturer, which normally involves removing the engine cover, carburetor and ignition coil. With access to the bearing, carefully remove it before cleaning and properly lubricating the area. Install the new bearing and make sure it and the crankshaft are properly aligned before you reassemble the rest of the motor.
