This genuine OEM glide cap, is also referred to as a fixed line head. It protects the cutting line of your string trimmer and prevents it from coming into contact with sidewalks or curbs. Housing the cutting head assembly, it guides and helps the trimmer smoothly glide along the edges without causing damage to the line or the machine. The glide cap is typically found at the bottom end of the trimmer head, where the cutting line extends. The cap is made out of plastic and wears out over time, especially when it rubs against the ground. You may also notice that the string feeds outside of the head uncontrollably. To remove the glide cap, simply depress its locking tabs on each side and pull it away from the cutting head. Install the new glide cap by aligning it with the correct notches on the trimmer, pushing it into place, and using a screwdriver to secure the tabs. Please bear in mind that the glide cap is sold separately from the rest of the cutting head assembly.
