The refrigerator side was too cold freezing items
The thermostat was set at 0 for the freezer, but at 37 for the refrigerator. The refrigerator was showing a temperature of 20 degrees and would not stay at 37. After learning the 3 choices it could be (air inlet cover, thermostat, and computer), I went for the air inlet on the basis of percentage of repair. With this particular refrigerator with this problem; this is repair has the highest chance of success. Nice on-line decision making tool! I went with choices of previous buyers and followed previous buyers instructions. All I needed was a couple of Phillips head screw drivers, and cleaning the dirt I was finding in the refrigerator was the biggest job.

Flapper on ice dispenser wouldn't close after dispensing ice.
When I clicked on the part to see it's description the pop up window included a youtube video on how to install the part. The video was right on the mark. Very easy installation. Phillips screwdriver was the only tool needed. Repair performed in less than 15 minutes. I have used this site before and it has been extremely helpful in saving me money by doing the repairs myself instead of paying an arm and a leg for a repairman to do it.

Plastic Broken on icemaker auger
The repair was hard because the nut holding the auger to the icemaker was reverse thread. If you tried to get it off the normal way, you just continued to tighten it up and therefore the assembly wouldn't come apart. Once I figured that out there was a number of screws that held the housing to the icemaker that had to be removed. Putting it all back together was reasonably straightforward. Put the assembly back into the refrigerator and it started making ice cubes in about an hour.

augar was broken and needed to be replaced
My daughters boyfriend replaced it for me. The helpful hints on this site helped alot. Most difficult part was getting the C-clamp off and a flat head screwdriver was necessary for this. When taking off the other washers etc... keep them in order so they can be replaced in the correct order.

Broken plastic guard inside icemaker
The plastic guard that keeps the crushed ice from plashing back into the icecube tray broke I ordered the part and I received the part a lot sooner than I expected , I pulled the ice maker cube container out and removed the screws in the front of the container then unsnapped the front plastic that has the brand name on it, then I removed the large "E-Clip" and took the auger out and removed the clear broken plastic and replaced it with the new part and reinstalled same as I took it apart, All is workinbg fine now...Cheers, Roger

The frig was not cooling in main section or freezer
I ordered 3 temperature Sensors Part#PS304103 and viewed the video. Got there, opened the frig. and it looked totally different and no place in any part of this frig. that took these sensors as viewed on the video. Totally baffled why these parts were listed for this frig. there was no place in this frig that would access for these parts. Serial # was HR443071.Maybe this model is out of date for these parts. Trying to find someone who can repair it. Any ideas???Purchased this GE in 2008. Model #is GSS25WSTFSS Thanks, for your help. JIM

Door Was Not Closing
I watched the video on the website and the repair was done quickly and easily. Turned out I didn't need any parts because the spring that closes the door had somehow gotten out of place. Returned spring to proper position and the door now closes. Due to the door staying open the ice in the dispenser was melting and refreezing, thereby stopping the flow of ice. Without the video I wouldn't have attempted this repair.
