Cam snapped in half on bottom of door
Super easy - emptied door of all food, unscrewed bracket from top of door, lifted door off and set aside. Broken cam removed, new one screwed in, and lubed with some Vaseline. Set door back in new cam, screwed bracket into the top, and good to go. I was kinda worried about shopping from PartSelect since I had never heard about them, but the part was here in less than 2 days. Pretty awesome little company.
Remove two screws from top door hinge. Remove door from unit Remove old broken plastic cam 1 screw Replace new door cam tighten 1 screw Reinstall door and top hinge screws.
Had to get the clips onto the plastic knob, which once done the clip would go in the hole which held the kick plate on, had a problem getting the clips on, no directions, finally h I held the clips closed and hit them with a hammer and they went right on. I was afraid that I would break the knob where the clip went which had happen and is why I needed a new kick plate. A short description of how to do this would had been very helpful.
Have to say it was a pleasure doing business with PartSelect. Purchased the icebin from Whirlpool and the entire backside of the bin broke off in less than 10 days. I called Whirlpool for warranty and they said it had been more than 30 days since the order was placed and it is only a 30 day warranty. I spoke to a supervisor and pleaded my case that I work out of town and only make it home every 2-3 weeks and it was only installed for 10 days. I further explained that the original unit lasted 10 years so I would think it would be pretty obvious that this was a defective product. She said sorry, only 30 day warranty, but she would offer a 25% discount if I wanted to reorder. I told her what I thought of their policy and offer and told her I would rather pay full price than any further support of their company. The phone agent with PartSelect was friendly, professional and I received my new icebin in just a few days. I don't purchase many parts from the internet but I would bookmark this company for future reference.
inserted a knife between the switch and the plastic interior in order to pop the switch out. then took off the 2 wires on the old switch put them on the new switch and reinserted the switch into the plastic interior.
Removed the door by taking 3 screws out of the top and lifting straight up, then replaced with the new parts and very easily replaced the door, worked ike a charm, if i didn't know any better it was like factory new
The door made a loud noise on opening and closing.
Emptied the door. Removed the door, top bolts first. Lifted out the door. Installed new cam at the bottom. Set the door back in place. Bolted the top hinge back on. Smooth!
The part came quickly and was the right one. You can't imagine how many outfits lose it here. Well done and thanks.
Light switch wasn't working.. As I would close the door I would notice our frig light wasn't going off...
I simply removed the old switch by gently pulling down on the old switch with a screwdriver. When it was about half way out I just gently pulled down on the old switch and it popped out... I removed the two connectors attached to the old switch by pulling on the connectors with a pliers...I tried using my fingers but wasn't able to pull the connectors off so I used pliers. It worked perfectly.. When pulling off the old connectors, make sure you attach the new switch to the same tabs on the new switch... It was very easy to do and took under 5 mins.....The light switch works perfect....P.S. You should unplug the frig while making the connection just in case....Safety first....!!!
The light rocker switch wasnt working. I found the part on the web site. It was so easy. I used a screw driver to pop out the old one and pop the new one in. It took 5 min. Thanks!!!
One side of the kick plate grill was broken (faling of fridge).
Popped off the grill via the one remaining clip. Used a flathead screwdriver to pop the old, broken clip off. Then popped the new clip on to the holder. Done!! Super easy. Wish I had done it 2 years ago when the thing first broke instead of trying to jury-rig it!
Removed top hinge cover and socketed out hinge nuts. Lifted door off bottom hinge. Socketed out broken bottom cam and replaced with new. Reset door with someone lifting and the other guiding. Reattached top hinge and cover. Voila.
