Keep searches simple. Use keywords, e.g. "leaking", "pump", "broken" or "fit".
Bake element developed a hot spot that burned through it.
Easily removed two screws, pulled the wires out of the oven wall, disconnected the old and reconnected the new, pushed it back into the insulation, inserted the screws and tightened them. There was a problem with the model number. It was on a vinyl plate inside the oven drawer wall. The plate was slightly yellowed so I used my finger to wipe the yellow away. When I did, the model number ended up as a black smudge on my finger tip. GE's engineers could have come up with a better method of displaying the model number. GE's customer service operator, however, did an excellent job of helping me to ascertain, at least, some of the number.
I turned off the electricity, unscrewed the old one and disconnected the electric wires, then put the new one in just like the old one. It was very easy and now it works great.
oven wouldn't heat because coil had burned through
The part was delivered in 24 hours with regular shipping and was simple to replace. Uncrewed it, disconnected wires from the old one and connected the new one. Cost a little more than $30 including shipping and the oven works great!
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. Removed the old piece and connected the wires to the new piece. I'm a woman and this took me less that 15 minutes to complete. Easy as pie. On top of that, I received my order within 3 days! First observed the situation to determine if I should try and repair. I decided I could and should. Got the element and proceeded. I first turned the power off at the circuit breaker to cut the electrical power to the stove then I removed the two screws that holds the unit in place and then pulled unit out to where I could see the wire connection; removed the two screws on the wire connection and replaced the old element with the new element. reinserted the unit back into position and replaced the two screws that holds the unit in the stove. Turned power back on and tested the oven for any problems. Stove is working great.
Oven would not heat, but broiler, burners and thermostat was clicking, so we figured it was the bake element.
Had to take back panel off of the inside of the oven to get to the screws to remove the old element and attache the new. Removed the two screws to remove the old, pulled it out unattached the wires and attached the new one.
Made sure oven was turned off. I used nut driver to remove nuts holding old element to back of oven. gently pulled element out of wall, taking care not to yank because of wires attached to back of element. Made sure oven was off again and then used nut driver to carefully remove wire leads from receptors on element. removed old element from oven and got the new element. carefully used nut driver to attach wire leads to new element. When snugging the bolts to leads, used pliers to keep leads on the element from bending. carefully replaced wires and rear of element into the space behind oven, and used nut driver to attach the back of element to the back of oven. shut oven and turned on to make sure it worked. it did. I was very pleased with my experience with part select dot com, and will be buying another element soon to replace the one in my other oven! Thank you
When I told my husband I ordered the part and was going to fix it myself, he laughed and said I might not have ordered the right part for the problem and I should just buy a new stove. The part was delivered the day before Christmas, just 3 days after I placed the order! I had read the stories of others fixing theirs and gave it a shot. It took me longer to find the tools then it did to replace the element! I took the screws out , pulled the element toward me and disconnected the wires. Put it back the way I found it. Oven heated up in less then 5 minutes!
Turned off power. Removed old broken one installed new one in minutes. Turned power on and tested it out. If this 60 something lady can do it, you can too.
Identify oven breaker and turn off power before starting. Opened oven door. Removed oven racks. Use 1/4" socket or nut driver to remove the 2 bolts holding heating element mounting bracket at rear base of oven. Carefully pull element out of installation mount to remove the 2 machine screws that attach electrical wires to the heating element. Reattach wires in same order as original element. Then reinstall new element in reverse order of removal. Took all of maybe 15 minutes! Excellent OEM Parts!
When moving the range, the 220 wire popped off the terminal and arced melting the plastic terminal
I looked for a new terminal locally, but no one had s terminal that would fit a 40-year old range. I went on line to PartSelect and could not find my model range, so I looked through all the terminals listed on the website (about 500) but found only one that was close to mine. Mounting holes did not match, but it had 3 connectors with 220 capability, so I ordered it. I requested express shipping by UPS and thought I paid for the extra charge. When I got notification of shipment. I saw it was via ground. It went from Louisville to Jacksonville to Clearwater, FL. I ordered it on Thursday night and received it the following Tuesday night. Meanwhile, we had no stove to cook on. When the part came, it took two days to get the contractor back to our condo. He drilled new holes on the mounting box and jerry-rigged the wiring to make it fit. The range is now working, but I was disappointed in the delay in shipping which I agreed to express shipping.
My husband first turned the main breaker off to the stove. Pulled the stove away from wall, took off the back plate, unhooked the element and out the new one in!!
Very easy and simple/ After making sure power supply was off, removed socket screws in back plate of element, slid old element out, attached new element and replaced/tightened socket screws on plate and new element. Power on, oven on .. heated quickly and nicely. Used oven several times since ... no problems.
Bake element began to spark and short out when I tried to use it.
When the part arrived, I used the diagram provided by the website to see what really needed to be done. Keep in mind, if you're doing it correctly and disconnect the range from the power source, it's going to be dark inside the oven. Get a good flashlight or electric lantern. There are two screws holding the element in. Mine were 8MM hex-head screws, but be prepared for anything. I removed the with a socket attachment/adapter to my cordless drill/screwdriver, and the part came right out. Some insulation will come as well - don't panic. Installation is similar, just in reverse order. Pay attention to the feet on the element. Make certain they are down. Don't lean on them when you think you're finished and discover that you installed it upside down like someone I know, and have to pull it out to correct this.
