MFW9800TQ0 Maytag Washer - Instructions

Unplug machine,remove three screws that hold on top cover.
Unplug latch switch assembly,then open front door of washing machine, remove three screws which hold latch
switch. Install in reverse order.

I ordered the part, followed the instructions listed on appliance help and put it in... easy

open the front bottom panel (3) screws. remove panel. twist off old shocks by turning the shock counter clockwise. reinstall shock by turning clockwise.

I have just experienced multiple back-to-back wonderful transactions with PartSelect. Let me explain what happened: I purchased a home that came equipped with a washer/dryer set. After doing laundry for a month or so, the washer started to make a terrible banging sound on spin. I researched the manufacture on the net and I found this failure mode is common for this washer. Without taking the washer apart, I concluded that the bearings and seal had failed. These parts are not sold separately but are available in a larger assembly that costs over $430. However, there are individuals on eBay that offer the bearings and seal as a do-it-yourself repair. I ordered an eBay kit. While I was waiting for the kit to arrive, I took the washer apart and found that the bearings AND shaft had failed. I thought I would need the $430 assembly after all. I studied the PartSelect website, called on Sunday (thank you for being open) and ordered what I thought was the proper assembly. The salesman was very helpful and said the part would be shipped on Monday. On Monday, I received an email that the part had been shipped and was given a tracking number. Just as a double check, I looked up the item number (PS2360951) and realized that was not the part I really needed (PS2367230). I needed to cancel my order and get the other part on the way ASAP. I dreaded calling PartSelect to change the order, thinking I would have to suffer thru verbal abuse. I was surprised to find another pleasant salesman who took my current order number, told me that it had already shipped, that I would have to refuse the delivery and told me how to go about doing so. She then helped me with ordering the correct part ($448) and gave me a new order number. Within minutes of hanging up, I received email about the new order being processed and ready for shipment. I went to the PartSelect website and checked on my old order and found it had already been marked as ‘return pending’. When the part(s) arrived a few days later, in less than 5 hours, I had installed the eBay bearings & seal along with the new shaft and was doing a load of laundry. I shipped out the unwanted part the next day. That was a week ago. Today I received an email saying that the part had been received and my account had been refunded $430. All in all working with PartSelect was a very pleasant experience!

Disconnected the water supply lines. Removed four screws holding the top to back frame. Removed the top. Disconnected the electrical valve connections. Removed the valve set mounting screw. Removed the valve set and replaced. Reversed the steps above for installation.

Took the front panel below tub and above pedestal off washer. Removed pump and found coins in the strainer. Removed them thinking they may be causing the problem. Put everything back together and tried again. Washer still wouldn't drain. Unplugged it and ordered a new pump. Installed pump after removing the plug and draining water from washer. Replaced pump with new one and washer works like new.

I had replaced the flowmeter, but that didn't solve the problem, so I ordered the hot/cold solenoid fill part. Other than ONE screw that was unique -- the back retaining screws were nut driver screws, the one retaining screw was a torx which, of course, couldn't be seen unless you pulled the washer all the way out. Unscrewed that, unhooked the hose clamp with pliers and worried the hose off, removed the four electrical connections (which were TIGHT) and replaced the part. Turned on the water and was dismayed to get a d/l error code. After some colorful language learned from my drill sergeant 40 years ago, I realized that was "door lock" and closed the door tightly. Ran great and the Mrs. thinks I'm a hero.

Of course the machine was not plugged in & water valves where off. I took water hoses off. Then i took 3 screws off the back of lid & slid lid back & lifted it off. I then unplugged two wires going to valve. I then took water hose going to valve off. Last there is one bolt holding valve to machine & in the mechanic industry we call this bolt a star head, so it was a good thing I had this tool. So if you do this repair you will have to get this tool. This job is easy to do & Part Select was 100% on my order & shipping! I will order again when something brakes again !!! Thank's

It took less time to repair than it took to get new baffle out of the packing sleeve. Set it in drum and snapped it in place. Took about 5 seconds.

The difficult part was getting the water from the washer without making a huge mess. I used a shop vac loosened the cover on the filter/strainer assembly use the shop vac to suck up the water before spills all over. if the tub is full I dumped my shop vac twice total. 1 Remove pedestal drawer 2 removed lower cover to expose mechanicals and pump assembly 3 vac out the water by using above procedure. 4 rotate hose clamps to a position where you can get the needle vice grip on them/remove hose clamps. 5 lift cover exposing electrical connections on the pump assembly depress tab slide connector out. 6 remove 1 torx head screw securing pump to base of washer. 7 remove pump assembly. 8 Reinstall in reverse of above instruction. I also took the lower tub hose off and washed, bleached along with hot water to. clean it

Disconnect the hot and cold water supply hoses from the rear of the machine. Remove 3 screws in the rear that fasten the top cover. Slide the cover rearward and remove it. Disconnect the black outlet hose and unsnap the two electrical connectors from the water valve. Remove one screw that fastens the water valve to the rear panel. Slide the water valve away from the screw and remove it. Reverse this procedure to install the new valve.

Placed baffle in drum over slots pushed down on it and slid it back to lock it in place. You will hear it click.

Easy peezy!! Next day delivery, as promised for parts that could not be found anywhere else. I placed the baffles in the washer and clicked them in using both hands one by one. I'm petite and weigh about 110 lbs. The total installation time was less than 2 mins. I was given a $200 quote just for installation but, spent less than $100 and installed myself. Thank you!! I will not wait so long and shop around next time. I'm going straight to partsect.com to save time and money. Although I have to buy new clothes now since my washer put holes in all my clothes. But, the problem is finally solved and I am so grateful.
