Broken door handle
The online video was perfect. The instructions were simple, straight forward, and easy to follow. I followed the directions without any problems. However, I didn't realize that I needed a star pattern screw driver to screw the screws on the perimeter of the door. But a very small screw driver worked and I avoided buying a special screw driver. The door latch fit perfectly.

Broken handle
The door on this dishwasher never did close right, it was catching or binding on the latch since new. The handle was broke for about six months and finally fell apart to where it would not work at all. After ordering the new latch from PartsSelect and about 20 minutes later the door works like new. There is no more rubbing or binding of the door, it opens and closes smoothly. We are 25 miles from any repairman and even my 80 year old mother could have fixed it. I printed out the helper suggestions and that made it alot easier. Turnoff power, unscrew about 9 screws, separate inner panel enough to slide out door latch, remove 4 wires from old switch, put four wires on new switch, place switch in proper position and replace 9 screws. Turn on power. DONE.

The door latch had broken off of its pivot point and would not latch.
The inside door panel was removed to expose the latch. The latch was removed and the wires removed from the two switches. The new latch assembly was inserted, the wires were connected to the switches and the door panel re-attached.

Broken handle
MOST IMPORTANT: Unplug the dishwasher before performing any of these steps! Open the door, unscrew the inside plate of the door with a socket set, lift the plate and pull out the handle, unplug the two wired connections, plug in the connections on the new handle, place it in the original position (it is very obvious where the handle goes), close the plate back down and screw in the two screws that hold the handle first - Do not tighten all the way. Then, proceed to screw in the remaining screws and fully tighten them all in once they are each in place. Plug the dishwasher back in and you are done! Easy...

Small roller broke on the top rack. Had to buy the whole upper rack lifter adjustment assembly.
Thanks to the good online instructions it went very smoothly. Took rack out of dishwasher, removed 5 screws and took rack lifter assembly apart. Fit new assembly piece on and replaced 5 screws. Put rack back in dishwasher.

defective switch
Simply removed the eight screws (star heads) to separate the outer door cover from the inner case. The switch assembly was held in by two of those upper screws. I pulled off the switches on either side of the old assembly, reattached the switches to the new assembly and reattached the two door sections. Voila, done in about twenty minutes.

Broken Door Handle
I was thinking about buying a new dishwasher BUT decided to look into purchasing a replacement handle.I was a bit leery because I feared what would face me once I started the repair. I "Googled" the model number and PartSelect's site came up. Once on their site,it was very easy to locate the part I needed. The short video of how to repair the handle was great and gave me the information and confidence to do the job. I ordered the part and it was delivered two days later using Standard Shipping. Great customer service. I removed the 11 screws with a #20 Torx screwdriver removed the old handle assembly,GENTLY disconnected the wiring harness, installed the new handle complete with switches, replaced the 11 screws and BINGO; done and the dishwasher runs great. NOTE: The video shows replacing just the handle onto the old assembly. I would not recommend doing that. What I did was; purchase the handle and door latch complete assemble with switches which makes for an easy install. The plastic on the the old part was very flimsy, and it cracked when I "gently" removed the wiring harness and the durability on the replacement part was no better. The door handle on my Maytag is the same handle on at least a dozen other dishwashers and the highest percentage of of repair problems. 54% of the repair problems with these dishwashers is the door handle. An obvious design flaw. The instinct with this handle is to reach in and pull. This is what breaks the handle. What has to be done to prevent further damage is; take your fingertips, press up on the handle, which releases the lock, and then reach in and pull forward.

Handle Broke and Controls ceased to function properly
I switched off the breaker to cut the power to the unit, removed all the screws from the interior of the dishwasher door, lifted the door liner. The control assembly was visible. I unseated the existing assembly, disconnected the power coupling and reversed the process with the new assembly. .

Dishwasher door latch not working
Removed star screws holding the plastic interior door piece in place. removed old latch assembly. This is the second time I've had to do this, and both times it was difficult to pull the wire harness off of the wide flat brass contacts. I tried removing the contact assemblies boxes and reusing those (which I did last time since I couldn't get the leads out of the wire harness), but the first assembly fell apart. I was finally able to remove the leads from the wire harness with vice grips by holding the wire harness and jiggling the contacts back and forth. I was really afraid that the new contact boxes would come apart, too, but they didn't. I could not get the contacts box to fit back snuggly (I even tried the old one) in their place and the plastic latches/hooks to go back in place. One of the latches/hooks actually broke off. I put the plastic door back back on, the screw holes didn't want to line up without pushing down on the plastic to flatten it out more, but I finally got them all back in. The star screws are easy to strip, so I had to be careful. The new latch assembly works just fine.

The plastic door latch broke.
The repair was simply take the old one off and replace with the new one. It fit perfectly. I only had to remove approximatly 10 screws, unplug the old latch assembly, plug the new one up and line up the screws. We were able to put our dishwasher back in service in less that 15 minutes. We were considering a new dishwasher, rather than calling a repair service, but by using Part Select.com, we were able to get our 18 month old dishwasher rinning again for less than $30. Great service and we will consider using Part Select again.

Door Latch Broke
First, DISCONNECT POWER! After opening the door I took all the screws out except the screws on each side next to the hinge. this will help the inside panel from sliding off when you raise the door up to get the assembly out. Once i got all the screws out the handle assembly was ready to pull the wire harness off. you can pull the assembly just outside the edge of the inside panel before any wires get pulled or insulation comes loose. i had to tug more then i thought i needed to but after working it back and forth it came off. after each side wiring was off, i took the broke one out and reattached the wires to the new one, reset the handle in the door in the molded spot, put screws back in and all done! no more doing dishes the old way! Good luck, took longer to open the package then replace the door latch.
