Everything worked on the microwave, except it would not heat anything.
The microwave had been working fine until one day when the timer counted down but the heating motor (or whatever you call it) would not come on. So the timer would count down but nothing inside would get hot. I did not know what it was for sure but decided to take it apart and look. Once I had the control panal off, I found three small wired switches inside. One of these switches appeared to have shorted out. So I searched online and found Partselect.com. I found a matching switch , ordered it (arrived in couple days), put it in, and VOILA it works! Thanks Partselect.com.

When opening door, the microwave would turn on
I've been fixing and taking things apart since I was a kid. I hoped that it was a bad switch in the door. Got out my test meter and check the 3 different switches. All 3 tested good, but one was a bit hit and miss. It would work if the microwave was on its side and wouldn't when it was set flat. I found the switch online and installed it. Took care of the problem. It was a whole lot cheaper than buying a new microwave. Thanks! Bill Brown, Fridley, MN

After closing door the display panel must be tapped on to keep the unit operating.
The switches are not the problem! The problem is in the tolerences of the latch housing. I have ordered two new housings (Upper & Lower) and will see if the tolerences are closer. If not I will try epoxying a shim to the plate that operates the microswitches. The other option is to file the mounting slots of the housing to allow adjustment, which would be iffy, keeping them from moving with use. The exploded drawings really need to be clarified. The scale is way too small. It was extremely difficult to pick out the individual parts of the mechanisiam.

Burned out fuse and burned out bulb
Put radioactive nuke suit on. Unplug microwave, used philips screw driver and took glass plate from the bulb cover, unscrew burnt bulb and replace with new bulb. Put cover back over replacement bulb, insert screw and tighten. Then used philips screw driver to take two screws that held the front control panel in place, then it folded down, then checked 20 amp fuse, it was burnt, replaced it with a new one. Folded control panel, inserted two small philip head screws back into control panel. Then plugged microwave back in, set the clock, tested it with cup water. Worked like a brand new one. Take off radioactive nuke suit. Just kidding about the radioactive nuke suit.

No power to microwave
Had trouble isolating the problem, so I had a repairman identify the problem, then I ordered the part and replaced it myself.

Removed screws holding the grill in place. Removed air filter, removed screw holding plate under the filter in place. Reached in under fan cowling to find the thermostat cut-out. Disconnected the two wires. Put the new thermostat in place. Replaced screws plates and filter in reverse order.

Microwave wouldn't start after "Start" pushed
Took cover off, noted the two side by side switches easily visible and we hought one of these was responsible. Then son noted a third switch at the top of the plastic assembly which inserts at an odd angle. When it was inspected signs of a previous short showed up with burnt contact points. Reinserted at same odd angle as there were guide holes, closed things up and oven worked 100%. Great prompt service and great website!! We will use you again

broken filter
Repair, not the problem. It was getting the correct filter. Under filter is "grease" not "air" filter. So first time an air filter came. Returned to GE. Found out GE doesn't make the size needed for 2001 model any longer --just bigger. Then connected to PartsSelect, they had right filter for the right model. Came and didn't fit. Returned. While getting return OK, very helpful individual kept checking and realized larger size was sent and did find the correct size. It was sent and fit. Your customer service was extremely helpful.

blowing 15 amp fuse when hitting power button
Looked at schematic to see which parts became active when the power button was pushed. From there used meter to determine diode was open and capacitor was shorted. Biggest trouble was dis-assembly/assembly required to get to electrical parts.

Microwave powered up when door was opened
After researching on line and watching installation videos, ordered all three switches and installed. Disassembly of microwave was simple, removing the bracket holding the switches was a little tricky, it sits behind a metal post and you have to angle and wiggle it out. One note of caution when replacing all three switches, be sure to install correct switch in correct location. Had two of one style switch and one of a second style, and put one in wrong place, causing microwave to power up again when door was opened. After thinking it through and doing a second disassembly, and double checking installation instructions, corrected problem and microwave now works fine.
