The refrigerator side is too cold, ice maker and water do not work.
I'm a pretty handy person generally but I had to call on my engineer neighbor to help. I've never soldered before so I didn't feel comfortable installing the thermistor. I had everything ready for him so all he did was cut the existing thermistor out, strip the wires on the replacement , solder and tape and he was seriously done in 10 minutes! I replaced everything and plugged the fridge in to find that my fridge still freezes everything. I have now ordered the damper control and gasket to hopefully fix this problem.

Ice Stripper was broke off, leaving the mounting tabs still inside their respected spaces in the ice-maker
Had to remove the ice-maker (also easier than trying to work inside the freezer letting all the cold air out). A few mounting screws and an electrical connection in the back. After it was out you will need to remove the cover (not the superficial cover that just pries off) where the gear is behind it, just far enough so you can get the mounting tabs on the ice-stripper in. In order to to move this cover out, after removing the screws (the obvious), you'll need needle nose pliers to ever so slightly squeeze the plastic clips together that hold the plastic movable bracket and the metal ice level arm/switch, so it will pop out. Once you have room to put the ice stripper in, it should just all snap back together, then proceed in reverse to put it all back together.

Light Switch Was Faulty--Failed A Few Months After Purchase Of The Refrigerator
I had several times tried to get the old switch out but with no success. Ordered the "repair kit" and followed directions for removing old switch (there is a plastic spring clip on one side). Easy to unplug the old switch, plug the leads into the new one, snap the new one into place. Took about 5 minutes total--piece of cake. I wish I'd thought to try this years ago when the old switch began to fail.

Clicking, refrig would not start.
Replaced the CNTRL-ELEC board with ease. Just slide back and remove the light cover. Use flat tip screw driver to release and drop down unit. Remove connectors and attach to new board after breaking in half to fit same as old one. Programming is easy, just look at the CODE on the name plate inside the door. Mine is 0-1. Follow procedure of holding the light switch off while touching the freezer control 3 times within 10 seconds. A "P" for programming will appear. Still holding the light switch, touch the refrig control to set for your code. Freezer button says 0, refrig button says 1. When you release the light switch, the programming is done. Mine starts out with a 4-4. It is now working quieter than when it was new and is very cold again.

Upper refrig. compartment wouldn't get cold enough. Freezer compartment was too cold and compressor was not shutting off.
Found troubleshooting steps for control board (called a jazz board) and ran through the steps. Found the control board (jazz board) was bad. Pull front vent cover where the condenser is off, you will find manufacture manual papers for these steps and for programming of new control board (don't lose these papers for next time). Papers are located under bottom of front right corner of refrig where they are in a bag ( cut bag open and replace back when finished for next time). Replaced board by: 1. Pushing light cover to back to remove 2. Take screwdriver and push on two tabs that hold housing on at each side (will see two holes where they are by looking from behind, with your head inside) push and pull down. There it is 3. Replace board with the tabs that hold it in. (use latex gloves and only touch outside of board, to avoid static electricity to the board. 4. Reinstall and program (Code for your refrig is on cabinet sticker where model and serial no. are) 5. Install a surge protector on the plug for possible surges. Not too bad to install, just finding how it comes out .

Freezer freezing up in back and frig getting warm
This is the 2nd Jazz board that we replaced in 2 years. We believe that a power surge caused the board to no longer work. We now have the fridge plugged into a surge protector. The instruction sheet to program the jazz board did NOT come with this part. I called Parts Select and they gave me a number for Whirlpool. I spent over 30 mins. talking to Whirlpool, 2 different departments, and they do not have instructions for this part. I was told that they only supply instructions for about 10% of the parts that they distribute. I was able to find the instruction sheet on my own but searching "whirlpool instruction 16022940." I hope this helps!
