FAV9800AWW Maytag Washer - Instructions

Removed top half of washing machine to get to valve, removed valve, installed new part.

Inserted bottom in first, holding in plac snapped on top pice and was finished.

Lift the lid and remove the auto-soap dispenser using a coin to turn the four locks. You will see a cloths hanger diameter wire that is held in place by nylon segments. The right end of the wire goes through the right hinge bushing. This is the torsion rod that hold the lid closed. There is a bushing that is on this rod and that is the part that fits into the hinge bushing. Remove this rod assembly by first removing the center nylon segment. Then pull out and the the left on the left hand side of the assy. Then fish it out of the right hinge bushing. Pay attention to how it is removed so you can replace it easily. I then replaced the broken hing bushing by pulling the broken one out with pliers. The new one snaps in. Now look at the bushing that is on the far right side of the rod that fits into the right hinge bushing. It will likely by seized up and corroded. Clean the corrosion off of the outside and use a lube to loosen the bushing so it will revolve freely around the rod. Now put it back together and your problem will be gone.

Pretty straight forward. After disconnecting the power. Remove the back panel, locate the drain pump. Disconnect the hoses [some water will still be in the hoses, have towels and dry vac ready] Remove protective plastic from the top of the pump and remove the electrical connection reassembled with new drain pump.

Slide putty knife under top section in the two front corners and lift up top,remove two screws holding front to the sides aand lift out front,lossen 1/2 bolt on the motor that adjusts the belt tension,put new belt on motor first and then slide over big pully, it was a tight fit so I put a little 3 in 1 oil on the top part of the belt to slip it over the large pully and then wiped the oil off the belt with a rag while turning the large pully, tighten 1/2 bolt with a little tension. The error msg applies to the lid lock, left side. I checked on the internet and sawe some other repair descriptions. Lifted the top assembly, one screw held it in place and one gable connection. Easy fix.

I removed top control panel and then the old power cord that been damaged by a small fire and the just attached the new power cord and control panel. Unblievably simple and I saved myself a lot of money. Where I live in a NYC suburb this type of simple repair could easily cost $100.

Turn water off at the inlet valve of hose you are replacing. Disconnect inlet hose the washer and let water drain out in a bucket. Then remove old hose. Replace new hose to inlet valve then washer . Use pliers to tighten both ends. Turn on water to check leaks at both ends of hose.

I just took more time snaping the inner panel into the brackets on the inside of the lid. The first time I tried to force it and it really is an easy fix if you are properly aligned.

I went online and asked a maytag repair man how to fix my machine, he told me that was the part I needed and the link was right there to order the exact part. The problem ended up not being that part and I had to have a repair man come anyways, but I received the part and it was what fit my machine

Disassembled washer as per directions with seal kit. Removed inner tub. Cut both tub shaft bearing in half; punched out from outter tub. Installed new bearings using .5 inch threaded rod, washer and bolts. Installed new seal on inner tub shaft. Installed inner tube. Re-assembled washer.

I just replaced the pump.

Afterchanging the struts. the unbalance problem continued. The main problem was the clutch assembly, replace it and problem got fix

Maytag made a washer with the dispenser valve in the rear of tub and compartments in the front corners of the tub with chutes in the lid to transfer the water from the dispenser to the compartments. I thought the dispenser valve went out but it was the chutes in the lid were stopped up from hard water. I hooked tubing little bigger than icemaker tubing to the dispenser and through the chutes in the lid to get the water to the front corner compartments on washer. I did wash two or three loads to narrow it down to that. first wash installed new dispenser still did dispense solfner. second wash hooked jumper wire to dispenser and pluged it in at rinse cycle still did not dispense solfner. than I came up with the tubes. FYI I did take all compartment off of washer and ran hot water through them in a bath tub I just did not run a brush through the chutes in lid. When they made the washer in 95 very bad ideal.
