Element shorted out
I removed the screws holding the element in place, pulled the element out, and one of the leads came off and dropped into the oven. I had to take the back of the stove off and feed the lead back through the hole into the oven. If I had been careful to keep the leads from dropping out of the hole, the whole repair would have taken only a few minutes. But even so, it was quite easy.
Started by replacing element which was clearly broken. Still no heat. So then I changed the oven sensor. Was disappointed that when I received the sensor I had to cut and splice the connector that was on it with the old one that came off the old sensor. Did that and still no heat so I had to buy a new clock/timer. Went to another store for that because of the connector not being the right type and there was no picture of the clock/timer like the other website. Overall ok, normall troubleshooting steps, just wish I didn't have to cut and splice the connector on the new sensor I purchased from here.
Went to use the stove and the main baking element had a melt down.
shut off power to stove. Opened the oven door, removed the racks. removed 2 screws holding the element in place. gently pulled element out to expose connections. removed connections. discard old element. reattach connections to new element and reinstall. very simple.
The old element burnt a hole in itself and just glowed in an area about the size of a quarter. I unplugged the oven, removed the two screws that held the element and removed it. I plugged the oven back in so we could use the top burners. When I went to install the new element I did not unplug the oven as the controls were off. I did not know the element was hot from the outlet (by design) so when I tried to attach the new element sparks flew and it welded itself to the wire so I jerked it looose. I then unplugged the oven, replaced a blown fuse, and installed the element.
I first turned the power supply off to my oven. Then I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the ends. After that I connected the new element to the wires on my oven and secured the element with the two screws and turned the power back on. I pushed the oven-on button and now I'm back in business.
Watched your video and quickly made the repair. I did have to remove the back of the oven (4 screws) to connect the electrical leads to the element. Frigidaire uses a wire harness that prevent you from pulling the wires into the oven to disconnect them as the video shows. No problem; a really easy fix.
Sensor very accessible. Pull off the back panel, disconect the sensor and slide out from back of oven. The original plug was cut off the sensor, as well as the new one to get the proper connector type on the new sensor. Soldered and heat shrink, and presto we had our new sensor ready for install. Install was about 5 minutes which included putting the back panel on the range. Pretty easy and works like new. Total time for project was about 20 minutes.
I unplugged the stove for precautionary reasons. I then removed the two screws holding element in place with the correct nutdriver. I then carefully pulled out the element and pulled the two female spade connectors off. I then compared to new element and plugged the new element in. Finally I screwed in the new element and tested the oven. It worked again!! I would recommend running the oven for a bit before placing anything in to bake. this allows burn off of stuff on the new element.
pulled oven out, unplugged, unscrewed element attachment to the back of the oven (from the inside). element did not work. we tested the upper element and that did not work either. the burst of sparks, heat and flame from the shorting of the original element caused damage to the computer board. we called a local repair man to change the computer board, and then the unit worked, with our new element that we replaced!
When I found the part I needed there was an instructional video on how to remove broken bake element and install new bake element. This was the best video short and sweet and anyone...I mean ANYONE could do it!
Step 1- cut off the power supply (I flipped by breaker, but you could just unplug the oven) Step 2- remove baking racks Step 3- unscrew the little metal plates inside the oven where the bake element meets the back of the oven (reserve screws for new element) Step 4- carefully pull the bake element out until you have the wires through the holes Step 5- carefully pull the bake element from the wire clips on both sides Step 6- take broken element out of over and put new one in Step 7- slide new bake element ends onto wire clips Step 8- slide new bake element and connected wires back though back of oven Step 9- used saved screws to screw metal plates on bake element to the back of the oven Step 10- replace oven racks Step 11- restore power to range Step 12- enjoy a working oven and feel like an absolute PRO for fixing it yourself!!!!
Oven light stayed on & smelled like electrical burning.
Wife was cooking our thanks giving turkey, when an oder of burning was noticed. I walked over to the oven and smelled the area of oven light, it was bad. I turned off and unpluged oven. Got a screw driver, unscrewed 4 screws then noticed the burned switch from under the oven top. removed 3 wires, covered w/ elec. tape, and pulled oven light switch out front. looked at part number and ordered online. We were able to cook our turkey and enjoyed our meal.

Took screws out back of oven to get to connectors . Pulled old conectors off Installed new element took about 5 min. Very easy job. Also good time to clean oven .
