5KPM50EWH4 KitchenAid Mixer - Instructions

Per a video on this site, I removed the stand part, then removed the rear electrical cover and aluminum band which wraps around the mixer. Next, remove the drip ring and planetary gear (use a punch). Then remove the 4 screws securing the bottom housing and the 5 screws around the planetary gear housing. You should be able to pull the upper and bottom housings apart now. This exposes the control lever. Just unscrew it and replace it. Re-install all parts in reverse order.

I just put in the new brushes

I followed the video that was with the worm gear pausing at each step until I completed each step. The only different I did was to replace the grease in the gears and housing of my mixer. I figured with the gear busted, it was going to leave broken teeth in the grease. As I removed the grease I did find a couple of worm gear teeth. Thanks, Parts Select for the parts and video. You save me lots of $$$$.

Repair was easy. Remove the seal ring with a flat blade screwdriver and drive out retaining pin. Pry out lower unit using two screwdrivers, one on each side. Once apart, use spring clip pliers to remove snap ring. Pull out shaft and replace. Clean and lubricate as you reassemble in reverse. Google the model number to get detailed instructions.

it was a kitchen aid dough mixer, had to take the top portion off and replace the assembly with a new one that holds the teflon gear. You can purchace the gear only and it becomes less expensive, but at the time I didn't take the chance cause the greese was there and didn't want to take a chance. Its a simple repair by removing some cotter pins and phillips head screws.

removed the top of the mixer from the stand. I left the broken piece in place until the new part arrived so I would know exactly how the part fit in. I used the punch & hammer to remove the pin then removed the part with needle nose pliers. I put on the new part, checked to see that it worked and reinstalled the top of the mixer to the base. It was really easy.

I replaced my kitchen Aid mixer beaters. I bought two replacement beaters. They fit perfectly

the plastic covering the thumb screw cracked almost half way and lost the piece....so the new one is being used to replace this old one...very easy to install

The brushes on the inside of the motor were destroyed. We thought that it would be easier to just replace the brush holder and the brushes, however, the brushes were easy! and QUICK! The brush holders...not so much. We had lots of problems getting the brush holders into place because of a metal piece that had to fit perfectly on top of the brush holder. It made it easier when I held the mixer upside down (we dissembled it) and my husband did his magic on fixing the brush holders. Pray that you won't need to replace the brush holders because it was NO FUN...but the brushes were QUICK AND EASY :)

I put the beater in the mixer when I wanted to make a cake. I wouldn't call it a repair. The most amazing thing was that it arrived the day after I called and ordered it!

I was very happy with the customer services department and the support I received in identifying the part I needed for the repair. I received an email confirming my order with all details. I do wish you had a more cost effective shipping alternative, like Priority mail.
The repair went well and the mixer is back in business, for making those Chocolate Chip Cookie and brownies if you know what I mean.

The knob was attached to the new lever. I began to disassemble the mixer case so that I could replace the lever. However, it soon became apparent that this would be a major project involving many components and potential problems in getting the unit back together. Since all I wanted was to replace the knob, I simply knocked it off the new lever and forced it onto the old one. It is hard for me to understand why Kitchenaid would not make just the knob available.

Ordered the new beater and put it in.

After I dropped a part of the shield into my mixer the motor screamed and I unplugged the mixer. I found out I had a broken worm gear. I then order the part and per the helpful video I did the repair and I also changed the brushes my mixer is up and running waiting for the holiday baking season thanks to Part select.com Very easy Instructions to follow I am very happy with the results.
