My 13.5 hp motor will not turn over until I remove plug. It turns over fast after plug removed
For model number 280H07-0117-E1
PartSelect logo
Hi James, thank you for getting in touch. Based on our understanding of the issue, we would suggest you first make sure the spark plug is properly installed, because if the spark plug is not properly positioned or has a loose connection issue, it will not produce enough sparks to start the engine. Make sure the spark plug is not corroded or covered with dirt. Also, you may need to check the spark plug gap and adjust it if needed. If that does not solve the issue, then the spark plug, part number PS9281094, is most likely faulty and may need to be replaced. We hope this information helps!

Screw can out of the carburator throttle baffel and stuck in the exhaust valve
No compression. Removed the cylinder head. freed the screw, checked the valve to see if it still sealed. Turned the head over with the valves in it, install a spark plug, fill the head dome with gas and see if any leeks out over a 2 hr period. If not you are good to go. Reinstalled every thing with new gaskets and a new carburetor screw. Set the valves to spec. Complete the rebuild and there you have it. Rebuild the carburetor while you have it apart. This motor runs great !!!

My Briggs & Strattan (Troy Bilt) riding mover had broken vanes(blades) on the engine.
I went to Troy-Bilt first first for the part-nothing, then B&S engine, still no help surfing their websites for this part. Again, no help. Before giving up completely I thought about all the parts I have bought from PartSelect for washers and such. Typed in "Fan-Flywheel" B&S. First thing that popped up was a picture of this part. All my searching on Troy-Bilt mower site and B&S site for over two hours with no results, and then I go to PartSelect and without my model number or anything else, they had it and even displayed my model number and sent it right away, popped it in and the mower is working fine as ever. No matter what you need, I say save yourself a lot of time and just go here first. I'm a loyal member of PartSelect for over six years!!!

Gas leaking from tube breather
First I opened the top of the mower to expose the housing cover. Secondly I removed the four housing bolts to remove the housing cover from the mower. Next I removed the tube breather and installed the new tube breather and replaced the housing cover with the four bolts previously removed and closed the top of the mower. I filled the mower with gas to check for leaks which weren't any leaks. I proceeded to mow the lawn with ease.
