Door Spring Specifications
This door spring is manufactured for a dishwasher door. The door spring applies tension to the dishwasher door so that the door does not drop too quickly when it is opening. If the door drops too quickly, it could cause damage to the dishwasher door or dishwasher door hinges. This spring is sold individually. Check the spring on the opposite side of the dishwasher door, they often wear at the same rate so you may want to replace both springs for exact tension on either side. No tools are required for this repair. This is an OEM replacement part.

Dishwasher door practically fell open
All I had to do was replace the spring and retainer on the side of the dishwasher which amounted to pulling it out far enough to reach the eyelet that the hook went into and then stretching it to the retainer attached on the other end. I really like partselect, I have done some things in the past and they are very helpful on the site and on the phone and I would recommend them to anyone and I would not normally do that unless it has been an excellent experience.

One of the springs was broken, The door would not open or close properly. There was also a leak coming from the front of the dishwasher.
I removed the dishwasher from the cabinet space (two screws) and manually replaced both springs. I replaced one spring first to see if there would be an improvement when the second new spring was installed. There was much better tension once the second new spring was added. That is why changing both springs is recommended. This was very easy.
Changing the gasket was scary because I thought the the whole door would have to be taken apart. You know nothing ever goes back together the same. I feared that I would create an even bigger leak than what I had. Taken the door apart didnt work for me, so I just pulled the old gasket by hand and pressed in the new one. I made sure that it was seated correctly. Voila no leak.
The dishwasher is running as good as new.
I ordered these parts on Friday morning. They were on my door step Monday morning,
I highly recommend ordering from this site.

Door spring had broken; door would fall open
Removed the bottom panel on the unit (2 screws hold it on) and pulled the dishwasher out about 4"--after turning off electricity to the unit. Removed the broken spring and the old linkage and replaced them with the new parts. Pushed the diswasher back into place, and replaced the bottom panel. Turned on the electricity and the diswasher door is "good as new." This is quite simple to do; just takes patience.

Installed springs, linkage, gasket, and bracket
Repair was easy. Unfortunately I really didn't need the springs or linkage, but I couldn't see that until I took the dishwasher out from the counter. The springs were not stiff enough to keep the door from just falling open. So I cut about an inch off the long end and bent it into a hook. I didn't need new linkages the old ones were fine. The gasket made the biggest difference and went in very easy. The door will be difficult to close for a few times then everything works great.

door won't spring back up to close
New right away when we heard the sound, the spring broke. Easy to replace, pull dishwasher out from under countertop, usually held in place by two screws into countertop. Remove screws, pull out dishwasher. Close door, springs will now have the most slack in them. One spring located on each side. Remove spring from one side and replace with new spring to ensure proper spring placement. No actual tools needed as spring rests on a bracket attached to door and other end of spring goes through hole in bottom of dishwasher rack. open door to test for tension as there are several holes to choose from. .

broken springs
My daughter held the flashlight steady as a rock as I hooked not one, but two new hinges in place. Throughout the whole ordeal neither of us complained or lost our resolve. We conquered!

The door springs were shot.
Removed the bottom panel, and I had to disconnect the water supply, which did NOT use flexible tubing (much to my disappointment), removed the screws holding the diswasher in the cabinet. Slid it out, took the old springs off, put the new ones on.
It was pretty straightforward -- no big deal.

The door springs were broken and the dorr was very heavy to open and close.
I removed the two screws and then moved the dishwasher out a little bit (about 6 inches). I pushed the dishwasher toward one side to make room for me to change the spring with my hand and repeated the same procedure for the other side. After the spring change, I turned an old dishwasher to a new one.
