The exhaust fan runs when using microwave . Never used to do this unless we were cooking on stovetop and temp got too high under microwave. Would this be a thermostat or sensor issue? Maybe something else?
For model number KHMS2040BSS-0
Hello Jeffrey, Thank you for your inquiry. The most common part to fix is the thermostat. You can test the thermostat with a multimeter to see if it has continuity. If it does, check the sensor, exhaust fan motor, and main control board. For safety reasons, since the microwave capacitor can still store electricity even when the microwave is unplugged, it is usually advised that you discharge the capacitor before any attempt at repair. I have included a link on how to do so.
