Sometimes my interior microwave light does not come on, when this happens and I insert a heating time then press start nothing happens and a error message says open and close door then press start. This continues over and over, if I unplug the unit and plug it back in then sometimes the light comes on and it works. Do you know what is causing this?
Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your question. If the light inside your microwave is not turning on, the issue may be with the door switches. If they are malfunctioning or if they are out of alignment, then this would prevent the lights from turning on and the microwave from working correctly. You will need to inspect and test the switches to see if they are working. We have included a link where you may find information on how to check them. We hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.

I am getting a message to change / clean the filters however I do not know if mine has a charcoal filter to change out or to just clean the grease filter. When I remove the grease filter I do not see anything resembling a charcoal filter. Can you help me?
For model number KHMS2040BSS0
Hello Nancy, thank you for your inquiry. The charcoal filter compatible with your model is part number PS1871363. You may follow the following steps to access the charcoal filter: use a Phillips head screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the front grill. With the screws removed, open the microwave oven door, slide the grill to the left, and lift it up to remove. This will allow you to access the charcoal filter. You may need to change or clean the filter to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!

Door switch inconsistent operation for Open/Close sensing.
Ordered top & bottom micro-switches and mounting plate parts. Internet reviews could not find specifics if the issue was due to a top/bottom or combination of micro-switch or mounting plate failure. Pulled the plug. Removed the top vent assembly cover held in by 2 Phillips screws inside the vent. Removed the control panel held in by 1 P

hillip screw at the top vent assembly area. Lifted control panel upward to release the catch and moved it off to the side - didn't disconnect any leads. Used a Torx bit to remove the door switch mounting plates at the front and pulled the plates through the opening from the control panel. Documented the wire color code connections, the top plate uses 2 micro's with one using both the closed & open contact. Installed the respective micros on the mounting plates and worked backwards with the wiring and removal steps. Once completed, the open/close sensing has worked every time.
