Fridge and freezer thaw out every week or so and then a few hours later comes back on and works fine for a week or so. Do you think it is the electric defrost control or the thermostat. Thanks for any help.
For model number KSRC25FVMS00
Hi Rick, Thank you for your question. The first thing that I would suggest checking is your defrost thermostat. That part seems to be the more likely part to cause the issue. You could also test your run capacitor and your start relay as well. If all of those parts are fine you may have to look into replacing your control board. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Fridge runs but doesn't cool. Previous owner said it defrosted but, didn't cool back down. If it is the defrost circuit, is there a way to test without buying unnecessary parts?
For model number 106.50594000
Hi Jim, Thank you for your inquiry. To test the defrost circuit, you may use a multimeter to check the continuity of the part. If the bi-metal defrost thermostat is not the issue, There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the air diffuser, the door cams to see if the door is closing correctly and not letting air inside the refrigerator, fresh food door gaskets, the overload and relay assembly, the evaporator fan motor and the electronic defrost control board. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

How to install electronic defrost control board ? Thx for answer on thanksgiving eve !
For model number ksrg25fkbl01
Hi Bill, Thank you for your question. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. First remove the screws securing the control panel. Pull the control panel forward to release. Detach the ground wire and the crisper light wire connector for better access. If you do this remove the screw to release the damper control arm to prevent it from breaking. Then remove the screws securing the defrost control board. Note the orientation of the wires then remove them from the board. Then install the new control board by first attaching the wires. Position the board in the control panel and secure it with the screws. Align the slot in the slot in the damper control arm with the freezer control cam and secure it with the screw. Reconnect the crisper lite wire connector and reattach the grounding wire to the heat shield. Align the control panel on the mounting tabs and push it into place. Replace the screws to secure. Plug the power cord back in and verify if everything is working. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I don't think you understood my previous question when the door is shut it continues to dispense ice out of the door , its not making ice continuously,it stops making ice when its full ?
For model number MSD2274VEMOO
Hello Charles, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend testing the ice dispenser solenoid assembly, ice chute door motor, door motor bracket, door bracket connection, door chute, dispenser control board, and separator. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

My fridge will turn on and come to temperature, but then shut off and not come back on unless i cut power. I have tested the defrost tstat and it is fine, i've tested the relay on the compressor and it is fine. Would that possibly point to this board being bad? Doesn't look like the board is fried at all.
For model number ed5gtgxnq00
Hello Damien, thank you for your question. I would recommend testing the capacitor on the compressor as well. Capacitor part number PS11757023, is the part that provides the voltage or energy current required to start the compressor and keep it running. It allows the compressor in your appliance to easily cycle on and off. Doing so enables the appliance to effortlessly maintain its internal temperature. If the capacitor is faulty your refrigerator or freezer might be too warm, or you may notice the compressor will hum, but it will not run. If the capacitor is ok, the issue would most likely be the control board itself. I hope this helps!

My side by side refrigerator is not working
For model number ED5RHEXNL03
Hi Juan, thank you for your question. When you are having temperature problems in your fridge, there are a few parts that could cause the issue. You can use a multi meter to test most of the parts. Make sure you cut power to your appliance before doing any repairs or tests. First you should test your defrost thermostat. Place the thermostat in ice cold water for 2-3 minutes after removing it from your appliance. It should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. Another part to check would be your defrost heater. Remove it from the appliance. It should be reading anywhere between 0 - 50 ohms to be working. You could check your temperature sensor. To find the correct reading for this part you will have to refer to your tech sheet that comes with your appliance. You can usually find this tech sheet behind the bottom grille of your fridge on either the right or left side. These are the most common parts that cause this issue in your appliance. So it is suggested you check them first. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Why is my refrigerator and freezer warm and evaporator motor keeps spinning all the Tims and it was changed
For model number Ed2khaxvq01
Hello Reynaldo, thank you for your question. When you are having temperature problems in your fridge, there are a few parts that could cause the issue. You can use a multi meter to test these parts. Make sure you cut power to your appliance before doing any repairs or tests. First you should test your defrost thermostat, part number: PS11750673. Place the thermostat in ice cold water for 2-3 minutes after removing it from your appliance. It should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. Another part to check would be your defrost heater, part number: PS11740458. Remove it from the appliance. It should be reading anywhere between 0 - 50 ohms to be working. You could also check your Capacitor and start relay. Make sure after unplugging your capacitor you release any electrical charge. You can do this with a screwdriver that has an insulated handle. When testing your capacitor set your meter to 1000 ohms. Touch your probes to the terminals on the part. If your meter stays on 0 then your capacitor needs to be replaced. Part number PS11757023. For your start relay, set your meter to the lowest setting and calibrate it to 0. Your relay should be reading anywhere between 10 - 100 ohms. If it does not, then it is likely broken and needs to be replaced. Part number PS11749877. We hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

My freezer is having problems keeping things frozen. I have placed a temp probe and I watch my temp drop to around 18f. Then my temp inside the box increases quite a bit, up to around 30-35f with in 5-10min. My fridge is running fine no issues with temp. I did blow out my condenser, it was pretty dirty. I have checked my evap and frost appears to be covering most of coil evenly. What actually controls my freezer temp? I see an arm goes back and controls what appears to be an air baffle, and the cold stat is wrapped around the inlet. Would you recommend changing the cold stat out?

    Refrigerator stopped working
Used a volt meter to determine if compressor was getting power. It was not. There were only two wires going to compressor so I partially unloaded frige and disassembled unit until I found the control circuit. I removed the control board and could not find any degraded connections so I thought it was most likely the relay installed on the board. I determined which connection was the normal power feed and decided that the relay should power one of two outgoing lines when it picked up. I jumpered from power to the most likely line and powered up the refrigerator and it worked. I cycled the breaker to maintain temperature until the new part arrived (about 2 days). I installed the new board in about 30 minutes and everything is working great. Looking forward to another 15 years with this refrigerator. It may be destined for the garage in a few years when we remodel the kitchen but it will make a fine shop frige!
