My apartment has this dw. There is a black substance showing under the sump cover. Mold? Mildew? Not sure how to remove this part and reinstall after cleaning.

Hello Susan, Thank you for your inquiry. Open up the dishwasher door. Pull the lower dishrack out and set it aside. Now you should have access to the sump cover right behind the lower spray arm. There's two quarter inch screws that hold it in, use a nut driver to take them out. Reach in and take the cover off. Once you have cleaned the area, replace the cover and screws. Then slide the lower dishrack back in. Hope this helps!
