while cooking burners shut off and have to wait and restart. How does the safety switch work and is it supposed to shut off on low temperatures.

Hello Louis, thank you for contacting us. For safety concerns, the cooktop will automatically turn off if it has been on for a longer period of time. The control panel switches off because of excessively high temperatures. It is not supposed to shut off at low temperatures. You may need to replace the control panel, part number PS16730861. We hope this information helps!
