Could this be what is keeping my thermostat from shutting down the oven at a preset temperature ?

When testing the oven thermostat resistance, what points do I probe and what resistance is proof of it being good or bad? Also, is the probe the only thing to test for continuity? I cannot find a schematic or information that can help me determine which is bad or if it is something else. The oven heats unevenly and the burner and igniter work perfectly. The temperature varies from front to back and from a significant spread from times the burner is on to off. A visual inspection shows the burner to be clear and functioning properly; the igniter as well. All of the oven seals and door are in order and there is no damage or other problems. Can you help?

I bought a wpw10641988 thermostat part for my Estate oven and the directions show
The gas line where the thermostat mounts as a round tube but mine has a square one and
The thermostat will not mount under it because of the nob on top where the wire hooks on. What should i do?

We have a Estate gas range is a faulty thermostat the cause for the oven to not heat to a temperature over 300 degrees, and also is the thermostat what controls the oven igniter to turn on. Periodically on its own the oven gets warm with the oven control off, thinking it may be the igniter that is heating up. Can this all be caused by a faulty oven thermostat?Thank you

Thank you for your question. It is normal for the oven cavity to be warm when the oven is off, as they have a standing pilot light, which provides ignition when you turn the oven on. If your oven is not heating to the desired temperature, then there is likely an issue with the oven control thermostat. It is a sensor that turns the heat on and off in the oven in response to the temperature sensed within the oven cavity. You will need to test the part with a multimeter to see if it has continuity. Unplug the oven before removing and performing this test. Set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting and touch the terminals with the probes. The reading you should receive varies between models and you should refer to your owner’s manual to determine how much resistance a functioning thermostat should have for your model. If the results of your test(s) are different than the manufacturer recommendations, you will need a replacement oven control thermostat. If the sensor is fine there are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue.

I have replaced the ignitor and safety valve and the oven will not light. The ignitor comes on but the burner never gets gas. The cooktop burners work perfectly. Could it be the oven thermostat?

Knob broke all oven thermostat
If your version of the stove has the square blank manifold tube, this superseded part does NOT work! The instructions that came from Whirlpool are so small and unreadable. I had to scan / take photos of them so I could blow them up to make them readable. If you follow the instructions to the letter, the part will NOT work in the stove. I had to make several extra modifications and further "grinding" along with moving the screw holes to get the part in; and it still does not fit 100% but it is working. I called Whirlpool for help / addition information and that was a waste of time, they sent me in circles and gave me no answers.
This part may work great in other models, but it does not fit SF310PEKW0 with the square black manifold tube.
For reference, I actually know what I am doing when it comes to things.

This is a Whirlpool superseded part number for model: VEM3201671
If you have that model and the BLACK SQUARE MANIFOLD TUBING, this part will NOT work correctly.
Even with the "filing" instructions that come with it, you will need to make extra modifications to make it "fit"; but it is still not correct. I made it work for a short period, but I ended buying a new stove.
Again, this part may work fine on other models or different manifold tubing, but if you have VEM3201671 with the square black manifold, put your $100 for the part towards a new stove.
This a WHIRLPOOL screw up, not a PartSelect screw up.
