My freezer evaporator on my Whirlpool wrf989sdah00 is icing up and impeding the fan, making a bunch of noise. I have to manually defrost the evaporator every 4 6 months because it seems to not be doing it automatically anymore. Besides the defrost heater, is there a thermostat in this system, or maybe another part that could also be causing this?

Hi Frank,
Thank you for your inquiry. There is an air damper control assembly that helps regulate the air flow in the refrigerator. The part number for the part is PS11751058. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I have an old refrigerator model EAT17PMAR1 whose model number is not listed anywhere (yes, that old and going strong) so I'm trying to see if this WPW10166768 defrost heater is the approximate size that would work. Since the dimensions are not listed, perhaps you could provide them. I'm mainly interested in the long dimension. Thanks for any help you can provide. ~ John

Hi John,
Thank you for your question. The defrost heater measures approximately 23-3/4 inches long and the ends with the wires measure approximately 9 inches long. We do not have information on your model and if you need more information, you will need to contact the manufacturer. We hope this helps!
