This pump helps expel water from the washing machine and is activated after the spin speed is maintained for a specific period of time. If your machine is not draining properly or if it is noisy and shakes during operation, you may need to replace the drain pump. This is a redesigned part. The pump now mounts on to the base of the washer. This product is made of white plastic and has a metal center. Before you can replace the drain pump, you will have to disengage the drive belt under the machine. To reach the drain pump you will need to remove the access panel on the backside of the washing machine.

... Read mored the belt had basically melted onto the motor wheel. Watched a few videos here, determined that the motor itself was still operating fine, so i ordered a drain pump, motor wheel, and a new belt. 2 days later they arrived. The motor wheel was hard to get off. I ended up prying it off with a hammer. Then gently tapped the new one on. Replacing the drain pump was simple - use a socket wrench to unscrew the 3 bolts holding it on, disconnect the hoses, then just do the reverse to put it back. At that point, I just slipped the new belt on, made sure everything was turning smoothly and ran a small test load in the washer. It was as good as new and cost me a lot less than buying a new one or calling a repairman.
There is a small back panel about 14" square made to open for access to the drain pump. 3 screws for the back panel and 3 screws for the pump - Oh you do have to slip the belt off & back on, underneath the machine.

Pulled machine out from wall. Tilted back and rolled belt from pulleys. Pulled further out and removed cover plate 3 screws. Remove back compartment, remove belt disconnect two water rubber tubes from the drain pump, unscrew three screws securing the drain pump from the frame. Replace with a new drain pump, secure to frame with thee screws, reconnect rubber tubes, and replace belt.

Pump locked up so washer stopped working
Removed inspection panel on rear of washer. Pump right there. Removed inlet and outlet hoses with pliers on squeeze clamps. Washer making squealing noise in spin cycle
Pump is readily accessible at the back of the machine by taking off the access cover. First step is to disconnect power and remove drive belt off tub pulley which is the largest in the center - the takeup is in the drive motor mount but it seems easier to turn the larger pulley and wind the belt off. Follow the directions in the utube video which is the best (most others don't give detailed directions and best method). The only caution I would give is that there is some water in the drain hoses so be prepared to mop it up with sponge and bucket or have some towels available. Install new pump (loose assemble two visible screws to locate pump and then loose assemble far side blind screw and tighten all 3),replace hoses snug to stops and assemble clamps, replace access panel and replace drive belt and plug washer back in.

Turned off the water supply. Removed clothing and bailed out water fro tub. Removed back access panel. Turned washer over to access the bottom and removed drive belt by turning the large pulley attached the drum while pulling the belt over the pulley. Replace the pump by reversing the procedure, as for replacing the drive belt, place the belt on the motor and pump first and start it on the larger pulley and hold it on while you turn the pulley, it will pull the motor adjustment as you turn and when fully in the pulley it will be properly adjusted. Then replace the access panel, turn the washer upright, push back in place, turn on the water supply and replace the drain hose. Back in business. For me, while I was waiting for the new pump to arrive, I took the time to remove the agitator and tub and give it a good cleaning inside and out, but that's me.

My washer is grinding noisy when agitating. I removed the belt and turn each of the three pulleys i found underneath. The only one where i felt resistance was the pump pulley. Do you think i am on the right track if i replace the pump? Thank you.

My brother was using the machine to wash a pair of pants and a short while after that it was smelling like burning, and he disconnected it after I arrived home. I connected it again and tried to drain all the water left behind and it was making a noise like a grinder. I have not checked under yet, so do you think I need just the belt, or the pump too?

Thanks for your question. The drive belt is the most common reason why this burning smell would occur, but the drain pump would explain the noise better. You may wish to get both parts and see if the belt fixes your issue, and then try the pump if it does not fix your issue.

Biggest problem is that the clothes will not spin out very dry. Usually a heavy load will spin out better. On a light load the clothes are very wet. I replaced the belt, pulley and shims. Tried the water pump no change. Does on occasion make some noise, wife says, i haven't heard it.

I bought a replacement pump from y’all and it doesn’t have the metal plate mounted to the pump like the one that was on my washer. How do i pull the pulleys to install the metal mounting plate to the new pump?Thanks jason

Machine was running rough and loud on spin cycle. I replaced the transmission pulley and bearing. The unit runs good while washing, but still loud on the spin cycle. There are no leaks, or any excessive vibration. I am wondering what part i may need. I see noise most probable cause is the water pump, but do not want to just keep replacing parts without knowing if it is actually in poor condition. Looking for some help and guidance here. Washing machine shakes during spin cycle after tub water drains and spinning of clothing continues. I replaced the suspension springs (all 6) along with the snubber ring. I also re-leveled the washing machine. That is the three most common fixes for a shaking machine. However, machine still shakes once water empties during the spin cycle. I checked the balance of the load and it is fine. It shakes even with a small load. During the repair, i did notice a strange situation. If the front panel is left off the machine and you put in thru a spin cycle, the machine does not shake, but the tub can be observed shaking/vibrating. When i place the front panel back on the machine, the entire machine shakes/vibrates severely. What else could be causing this since i already did the three top repairs of replacing the 6 suspension springs, the snubber ring, and re-leveling. I'm very confused as to what could be causing this issue.

The washing machine did not drain before the spin cycle. The spin cycle started and threw water everywhere. No idea what part this may be.

If the drain hose is clogged or bent, water won't be able to flow out, which will leave all the liquid in the tub. If that does not take care of the issue, we would suggest checking the drain pump, part number PS11741803, and Drive Belt, part number PS11739438. My washer is spinning, but clothes are very wet at the end of the cycle. Too wet to put in the dryer. It is also making what I would call a squealing/high pitched mouse sound during spin cycle. Would this be the fix for that issue?

It includes the pulley that rotates to spin the basket and the thrust bearing that fits between the pulley and the transmission shaft.
