The snubber ring is a piece that is specific to your washing machine. The function of the snubber ring is to reduce noise and vibrations within your washer. It fits in between the leg and the dome assembly. If during your spin cycle you notice your washer jumping and making loud whirring noises, you may need to replace your snubber ring. The tools you will need for this repair include: a putty knife, a 5/16 nut driver, a 1/4 inch nut driver, a 3/8 socket and a ratchet, a small flat blade screwdriver, a pair of locking pliers, and a pair of slip joint pliers.

Solved the walking washer
Had looked at reviews and comments about what would make the washer bounce and jump all over the place for being out of balance, most suggested the snubber ring. This was absolutely correct. Very easy directions on how to replace. Washer functions again normally, although on heavy loads it does still vibrate, but does not move from its position. Had ordered2, but washer only needs one.

Did the trick!
Washing machine couldn’t handle anything heavier than a dish towel before replacing the snubber ring. New parts brought it back to its glory. The video was essential and made the job a piece of cake. Thanks!

Moderately difficult-worked great, solved our problem
the washer would walk out of place and hardly ever completed full wash cycles without having to be rebalanced
Had to take washer sides, top, and tub off to get at the snubber ring
The new part worked great.
It saved us from having to buy a new washer..
Appliance is in good working order

Works as expected..
Somewhat a major job, since the entire tub and transmission assembly must be removed. However, the first one is always a learning experience. The snubber worked as expected. My washing machine no longer walks the floor. Thanks

Replace snubber ring and 6 suspension springs
As a 78 year old senior, I no longer have the upper strength and agility to remove the springs. Had to remove the washer casing (9 screws and 3 bolts), which gave me full access to r disconnect the springs, remove the tub, replace the snubber ring and reinstall the springs. The complete repair took me 6 hours, no assistance and was very t

Our washer was purchased 1/6/2006 and it started banging and walking out of its place when the washer started into the spin cycle. This would occur no matter the size of the load.
We followed the instructions show on the video. However, our model was assembled slightly different. We had to remove the screws from both sides of the side panels so that we could remove the tub from inside of the machine. Also our model only has one belt not two. Over all it was easy considering my husband and I had never attempte

Sure wish the manufactures would consider making the older models again as lots of us are not happy with the new modules being manufactured presently!
As for how I did the repair , I just followed your instruction video . The instruction video provided by Part Select was very very valuable. The snubber ring was a piece of cake BUT would have been really difficult without the helpful hints in the video like replacing three of the screws in the rings collar with three longer screws
... Read more so as not to disturb the spring under it. The suspension springs were a bit more trouble since my washer doesn't have an access panel on the back however THANKS TO YOUR TIP to stretch the spring and put coins between the coils made this much easier . I don't know many guys that are strong enough to lay down and reach through the front and put those springs on the back. Of coarse the belt was easy.
I also really like you list of probable solutions to the problems with the machine.
My wife is now happy with her washer again therefore I am also happy.
Thanks so much. I can see me being be a loyal customer for many years to come.
As described in video; however, the video does not match the model I repaired. Most stuff is the same. Hardest thing to do was installing the new springs on the back of the tub (2 of them).
Unlike most videos, mine had a solid frame, no access panels. Following, is my disassembly & repair: I disconnected the water supply lines and drain hose. I slid the washer out into the center of the garage & removed the 9 base screws from the base plate. I slid the frame away from the base, leaving the working parts exposed. After pullin

I used a pair of vise grips, pinched them onto each spring & removed them, using a downward motion it was a lot easier. I placed the base plate aside, removed 3 opposing screws holding the snubber ring & put 3 longer 8-32 screws in to hold the brake assembly. Then I removed the 3 remaining screws, lifted the plate & replaced the ring. Then I reversed the process, replacing the old springs with new ones & finished the job in about 2 hours.
'Machine' wobbled & 'walked away from the wall'. Had to stop it and re-arrange the load, almost everytime!
I pretty much followed the video, and read some of the other comments on how to do it. I only had one problem, the back panel had an opening of about 14"x14" to access the 2 rear balance springs. I finally laid the machine on it's face,so I didn't have to kneel down. The only problem with that,is the tub falls forward, making the springs fa

I cured that problem by cutting a wedge out of a piece of 2x4, and stuck it between the top edge of the tub & upper frame. Worked great, held the tub in position, closer to the springs & locating holes. Taking them off is no problem, installing them, was made easier by using the wedge. The parts were a perfect fit, no more 'walking away from the wall' now! Thanks PartSelect
Followed the excellent utube instructions you provide. Piece of cake when I followed the video. The rear springs became much more difficult because my model does not have rear access panel. They were the only stuggle. Thank you for doing the repair videos
Actually I got on YouTube and looked up the problem and watch the short video of it and went from there and it showed me how to take everything apart what the problems were and as I did take it apart and found out it was exactly what they said I simply reversed it just ordered the parts and put them in and took my time to make sure that e

Hi, i replaced the snubber ring and springs on my Admiral washer but now it looks like the brake isn't working. It won't agitate properly and while it will spin, it doesn't stop when the program finishes but continues to turn under it's own momentum for a while (although it is much smoother!). Have you come across this before and, if so, is there anything obvious i should do before taking it apart again and looking at the brake assembly? Thanks in advance, mike
For model number AAV8000AGW
Hi Mike,
Thank you for your question. If the washer continues to spin after the cycle is over and it will not agitate properly, then the issue is likely with the lid switch. You will need to check the lid switch with a multimeter to check the continuity of the part to verify it is working. If it turns out that the issue is not with the lid switch, you will need to check the lid switch actuator, the agitator auger and post assembly, the transmission pulley and bearing kit, the agitator base, the drain pump, the motor pivot spring and the washer brake rotor. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Washer fills and spins freely but when it advances to wash motor clicks and hums for a second then pauses for a short time then tries to run again, nothing. Will a new snubber ring solve the problem?
For model number MAVT546EWW
Hi Pat,
Thank you for your question. If the washer is not agitating, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. Here is a link from our website that you may reference on what parts to check, https://www.partselect.com/AdvancedModelSymptoms.aspx?ModelNum=MAVT546EWW&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=1&ModelMasterID=51309&PID=34. Hi George. This may be a faulty drive belt part number PS11738882. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
Hi my washer in spin cycle spins but does not go into the high speed spin to get all the water out of the clothes. I have replaced the belt and it didn't help. What else can it be?
For model number AAV7000AWW
Hello George, Thank you for the question. We suggest checking for wear or damage to the Transmission Pulley and Bearing Kit, PartSelect Number PS2003651.The kit is used to help the washer drain, and may need to be replaced if the washer is experiencing slow or no spin. We hope this helps.
I replaced the thrust washer & belt because of slow spin. Washer still does not spin fast enough to displace much water from the clothes. As it is spinning it is still trying to agitate. What may be my problem?
For model number MAV2755AWW
Hello Steven, If your washer is not spinning there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the the transmission and bearing, the drive belt, the drain pump, the washer brake rotor, the snubber ring, the motor with pulley, the brake stator, the motor pivot spring, the lid switch, the lid switch actuator and the brake spring. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I'm having trouble figuring out this washer. It agitates, but does not spin. It begins to spin, but doesn't spin more than 3-4 inches or so. I guess that's a turn.I've replaced the thrust bearing (kit). i put pressure on the motor mount, to tighten the belt, but no results from that either. the motor seems to spin well. is it supposed to spin counter clockwise (opposite the agitation) during the spin cycle?
i'm at wit's end here....
thanks,
bill

do i need this for my machine? i am going to replace lower bearing
For model number mav408daww
Hello Robert, thank you for getting in touch. The function of the snubber ring, part number PS11738845, you are asking about is to reduce noise and vibrations within your washer. It fits in between the leg and the dome assembly. During your spin cycle, if you notice your washer jumping and making loud whirring noises, you may need to replace your snubber ring. While replacing the lower bearing, you do not need to replace the snubber ring. We hope this information helps!
