Question:

My refrigerator was dispensing hollow ice cubes and the dispenser was dribbling. You all had me test and replace the water inlet valve. That appears to fix the ice cube but now the dispenser is not working at all. I see where one of the repairs is to take out the water filter and put in a cap. I don't quite understand how this is a repair. Do you have to give up the filtered water meaning that the water dispensed is just like out of the tap except it is cold? What is exactly is the underlying problem? The water filter itself? Should that be returned and replaced even though it was new? Should i replace the water tubing assembly which is also a recommendation? That seems to be a much harder repair and yet there is no youtube video attached. Any further assistance would be helpful. Thanks

Answer:

Hi Jim, Thank you for the question. The list of repair options you are looking at are determined by previous customers and why they replaced a part going by symptoms, so not every fix will best suit your needs.Installing the bypass cap means the water will not be filtered unless you have a filtration system in your home. You can try to uninstall the filter and reinstalling it. You can also check the water line going to the dispenser to see if there is a blockage or a air gap. Double check the water line hooked into the valve and make sure it is firmly in place. You can also check to see if the water lines hooked to the water filter head are firmly in place and did not come lose while installing the new water valve and filter. With over 2 million parts we do not have a video for ever part as of yet but we are working on it! Hope this helps!

Question:

Why does the water filter cap leak ? And can i run the fridg with 2 filters ?

Les for model number MFI2569VEM
Answer:

Hi Les, Thank you for your question. It would either be broken or not installed correctly for it to be leaking. You could not use two manufacturer filters. However there is such thing as an in line filter. You may be able to also use that however you would have discuss that with a plumber to double check. Good luck with your repair.

Water filter assy was broken and leaking

The repair was fairly easy, just unscrewed the lower back panel and removed the ice maker hoses. the pulled the hoses out of the interior and replaced with new hoses. After running the water for a few moments, all is well and our family has ice and filtered water again. However, be careful when you are moving the fridge out of it's original space because the kitchen floor vinal ripped and now I have to replace the kitchen floor. What would have cost me about $40 to repair is now going to cost me much more.
