I bought the part for my daughter in Washington DC. We live in new york and were visiting. She told us the dish washer door was not opening. I opened the door panel and assested the problem. So I got the model number and ordered the part from you.The service was great, I had the part in a couple of days. The only problem was that I was in new york and could not install the part. I mailed it to my daughter so she could have a repair man put it in. But to my surprise she called and said she installed it herself and it was working perfect. Thats my story ! Harry Brooke
removed top rack which contains washer arm. unscrewed the old ringnut which had lost its gasket, that the top rack washer arm merges with. screwed the new ring nut onto the threads of the pipe which protrudes thru the back inside if the machine. reinstalled the top rack . job done.
Note: I also purchased the main conduit part (PartSelect #: PS958967).
My repair is pretty much the same as the previous poster from TX. The RING NUT W/GASKET part seems to wear easily on this GE dishwasher.
Disconnected dishwasher from electrical. You have to remove the rear lower brace panel in order to remove the main conduit. The bottom end of the main conduit is clamped to a hose.
Installed the new main conduit and o-ring, screwed RING NUT W/GASKET onto upper end of main conduit. I tightened the ring nut with the wrench to make sure I got a good seal without over tightening.
I had to use a new hose clamp to reattach the lower end of the main conduit.
Reinstalled brace panel, reconnected electric, and tested.
It was an easy fix, the parts did not cost too much. I'm glad I fixed it rather than paying some repairman $$. I purchased an extra RING NUT W/GASKET in case it deteriorates again.
I ordered the silverware basket because the original started to separate. The shipment box was damaged and sure enough the handle was broken. The handle can be removed so I replaced the new handle with the old handle, since it was the basket that really needed. Pops off very easily.
I tested the old latch assembly with my mutli-meter and determined it was faulty. I bought the new assembly and 10 screws later it was installed and the dishwhasher works.
the threads on the conduit broke and caused a leak
I pulled the dishwasher out and turned it on found the problem. I took the part off to find it broken. ordered the part on a sunday afternoon and it was there on Wednesday in time to fix it before I had to fly home.
