Keep searches simple. Use keywords, e.g. "leaking", "pump", "broken" or "fit".
Oven wouldn't light off
First I removed the two screws that held the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires nuts, (from last repair) installed new igniter. Not rocket science here.
1. Removed top over the oven burner. 2. cut the two wires conneted to the igniter about an inch and a half.Noted which wire goes to the top of the igniter and which one went to the bottom. 3. unscrewed the igniter from the mount and carefully pulled it from the oven. 4. put the new igniter wires through the hole. 5. mounted the igniter to the burner. 6. attached the new wires to the top and bottom old wires with the connectors that came with the igniter. 7. pluged the range back in and turned on the oven. Igniter works great.
Removed oven door. (two screws) Removed racks. Removed oven floor. (two finger screws) Removed diverter (V) tray. (one nut) Removed small panel @ left lower back of oven (1 screw) to access elect. power disconnect. Disconnected power. Removed element (two square drive screws) Snipped and stripped old wires, connected new with ceramic wire nuts supplied. Installed new element, reversed proceedure. Oven lights in 10 seconds. Wife happy! Probably 40 minutes, could do it again in15-20 once you know what tools to lay out.
Oven would not light and gas would not come through.
I unplugged the stove then pulled the disconnected the wires that controled the igniter. I took the two screws off that held the igniter to the pilot port. I hand to cut the wires on the new igniter to some-what match the lenght of the broken igniter. Then I cut the connectors from the old part and used the fire resistant wire nutes that where included with the new igniter and connected it all. Put all the screws in tight, double checked every thing. Finally I plugged it in and it was working.
After diagnosing the problem, I entered the Tappan Model #, found the part needed, and ordered from Part Select. On receipt (2 day delivery), I followed the instructions enclosed with the ignitor, and within 30 minutes, had everything up and running. Thanks PART SELECT!
open oven door remove bottom of oven then remome the metal cover over the burner to expose the ignighter remove 2 screws that hold it to the bracket. the two wire's that come out of the ignighter run down under the bottom oven pan, i removed the bottom front cover by lifting up and then pulled out, then i could see the wires i removed the wire nuts and pulled old wires off and removed old ignighter. i pulled off the insulator covers from the old one and slid them on the wires of the new ignighter then i fished the wires back down and and attachted them with the wire nuts, then reasembled the rest of the oven. woks great!
Removed lower drawer of oven and base panel of oven. Unplugged stove from outlet. Removed old igniter w/ nut driver (two screws). Disconnected wires (blade connectors) from stove base. Disconnected two-pole plug from oven after removing protective cover in corner.
Install new igniter. You will need to cut existing wires from old igniter so that spade and two-pole connectors can be reused. Join these wires with the new ignitor wires using the ceramic wire nuts provided with the new unit. Directions are also provided with the new igniter.
took of bottom pan and pan above the gas flame off and the igniter off , cut the two wires. replaced the igniter hooked the wires togther, replaced both pans. turned the oven on and it lite
remove bottom pan, remove gas second cover, loosen nuts on ignitor, cut wires near the ignitor end for extra slack, connect new wire of ignitor, screw on wire caps, reattach ignitor, replace covers and finished. Very easy repair.
The oven would not light and the house smelled like gas.
I removed the oven floor and subfloor. I detached the old ignighter leaving the wires still attached. I then attached the new ignighter and fed each of the two new wires down through the bottom of the oven floor following the same path of the old wires which were still attached. I attached the new wires one at a time to make sure I connected them to the right place. Then, I pulled out the old igniter. I then attached the oven floors and turned the oven on which now works. The tough part is pulling the oven out from the wall to disconnect the power and turn off the gas. I did not remove the oven door.
The drawer under the oven had been aggravating me for some time. It was titled and did not close right. Finally, I took it out to see what the problem was and noticed that the glides were broken. I googled the model no. of the stove (figuring I would have no luck) and to my great relief was directed to this EXCELLENT site. I ordered the new drawer glides within minutes and they were literally delivered the next day. Snapped right in, fixed, happy!! It's times like this when I can't figure out how we all lived without the internet!
Oven wouldn't heat , glow from bottom, and strong smell of gas
First unplugged the oven from the wall and then I removed the bottom floor of the oven by removing the two screws at the back. Then I removed the heat shield over the burner by remove the two screws at the front of the oven and removed the nut in the middle of the heat shield that was hold the shield to the burner. I removed the two screws on the flat oven igniter and cut the two wires on the igniter and pulled the two wires through the open in the bottom oven from the drawer opening. Mounted the new igniter and feed the two wire from the igniter through the open in the bottom of the oven, Stripped the two wires that I cut from the oven, twisted the new wires to the old, and put the wire nuts on. Last I put everything back together and baked dinner. Took ten about minutes and saved a thousand dollars because I was going to buy a new oven. Thanks, Partselect.
