Door Latch broke
(Remember to turn off power to appliance before replacement of the door latch) Removed the 11 #20 Secrews from the inner door panel, then carefully removed the wire harnes from each side of the door latch assembly. It was very dificult to get the wire harness from the latch so use caution, and remember wich harnes goes to eacy side for install. Then put wire harness back on and put inner panel in place and install the 11 #20 screws back in place. Turn on power and job is complete.

The plastic door latch broke.
The repair was simply take the old one off and replace with the new one. It fit perfectly. I only had to remove approximatly 10 screws, unplug the old latch assembly, plug the new one up and line up the screws. We were able to put our dishwasher back in service in less that 15 minutes. We were considering a new dishwasher, rather than calling a repair service, but by using Part Select.com, we were able to get our 18 month old dishwasher rinning again for less than $30. Great service and we will consider using Part Select again.

Broken latch
Turn off the power. Remove all the screws from the inside panel of the door. (Actually, I left the two bottom ones - near the hinge - in to hold it in place.) The two screws at the top also hold the latch assembly so when I separated the panel from the door, it was almost fell out. I removed & replaced the assembly, using insulated pliars to do the electrical connections. The new one snaps right in where the old one came out. Lined it all back up, replaced the screws, and all was good as new. One note, if your door is dirty around the edge where it seals, it's easy to clean it while the screws are out.

Fairly common issue -- Maytag handle snaps off and the dishwasher is locked.
My 13 year-old son opened the stuck shut door. He says he lifted up on the sides of the door. I wasn't home and am not interested in trying it. But after it's open, shut off the power, remove the screws holdiing the interior of the door panel on and 2 of them will free the latch. If you remove it before the new part arrives, whip out the cell phone to take a few pictures before you disconnect the wires. Installation is the reverse! Part not expensive, shipped quickly: I was imagining this whole affair would have cost much more.

The door latch on my dishwasher was broken.
I ordered the new door latch on a Monday afternoon. To my surprise the part was at my doorstep by 11am the next day. The repair was fairly simple. Just a matter of unscrewing the inside panel of the door and popping in the new handle. The fast delivery was a pleasant surprise. My dishwasher was down only one night.Thank you Part Select!

Injection molded plastic part failure
Remove interior door screws about a dozen or so socket head screws with variable speed drill, disconnect two leads from old part, replace with new part and re-install door. Most encouraging to see new part was redesigned in the area of part failure.

Latch broken but dishwasher still worked
This was perhaps the easiest appliance repair I have ever done. The replacement part was delivered in one or two days and about 15 minutes later the repair was completed. I spent more time removing and replacing the screws that hold the door panel in place than swapping out the part. I read that some others used a pair of pliers to remove the two connectors, I used the handle of the pliers between the switch body and the connector to lift the connector off (make sure power is off).

Door latch was broken and hard to open
What a simple fix, wish the part was manufactured better, so many people have to fix it. First of all, switch the breaker off, there is power to the dishwasher and maybe to that part, I did not check, be on the safe side and hit the breaker. Open the door and leave it all the way open to remove the 11 screws? Removing the torx screws, not sure what size they were, could be 10 or 15. Lift up the panel facing you any simply pull out the latch. With a large screwdriver, put the blade in between the two electrical contacts and pry the connectors off the contacts. Throw away the old latch and connect the contacts to the new part. Place the latch in position and screw the panel back in place. Remember to turn the power back on and you’re done. I took me longer to get the tools together than to fix the dishwasher - about 10 minutes altogether.
