Handle broke
Could not easily remove the wires from old switches that are connected to the broken handle, but could remove the switches and reuse them on the new handle assembly. Just needed the handle assembly only (not handle assembly with switches).

Door Handle broke
The dishwasher door would not open and it appeared that the handle was broken. Ordered new door handle assembly which took one day to get by mail.

After squeezing the handle hard and applying force to pull upen open the door, the door came open.

Turn off electric power to dishwasher

Remove all the scews around the door frame.

Carefully pulling ccver back, remove the two screws from the handle assembly that hold it to the door.

Rather than pulling the wires off the microswitches, I removed each microswitch with wires attached by applying pressure on the two plastic tabs and slowly wiggleing the microswitch off the assembly.

On the new assembly, I removed the existing microswitches and put them in a bag for future use if needed. Snap the old microswitches in to place onto the new assembly.

Screw the new assembly to door and test latching. Then put all the screws back in the door.

Reapply power and test door for opening and also electrical functioning of the microswitches.

door latch snapped off
After reading other stories ref. same problem on here, I decided to go ahead and and try the repair myself. It really was as easy as described. Plus I honestly believe the replace ment latch assembly from here is a much stonger and better designed part than the original factory part!

couldn't get it to start cycle, then it wouldn't latch
Remove 11 tork screws, pry off wires from the 2 switches with screwdriver, then put in new part and close it back up. See where they corrected the design flaw in the original part.

Door Latch Broke
First, DISCONNECT POWER! After opening the door I took all the screws out except the screws on each side next to the hinge. this will help the inside panel from sliding off when you raise the door up to get the assembly out. Once i got all the screws out the handle assembly was ready to pull the wire harness off. you can pull the assembly just outside the edge of the inside panel before any wires get pulled or insulation comes loose. i had to tug more then i thought i needed to but after working it back and forth it came off. after each side wiring was off, i took the broke one out and reattached the wires to the new one, reset the handle in the door in the molded spot, put screws back in and all done! no more doing dishes the old way! Good luck, took longer to open the package then replace the door latch.

The door latch broke for the second time
I removed about 10 screws that held the inside plastic liner to the frame of the washer door. Inside I found the latch that was clearly broken away from the assembly. The assembly has 2 electrical switches that are always energized, which I discovered when I got zapped. I carefully unclipped the energized switches from the broken assembly and clipped them to the new door latch assembly and replaced all of the screws. Done.

Maytag Dishwasher Handle Broke
I shut off the power to the unit, then removed the torque screws (be sure to remember which screw went in each hole -- the screws are different lengths).

I unplugged the two electrical connections from the broken handle, then re-plugged them into the new handle. I put the two pieces together, then re-inserted the screws, turned on the power, then done. Pretty easy!

The door latch was broken and hard to operate
First I removed the screws holding the inner panel to the door ( the longest part of the repair) . I then removed the two wire leads and re-connected them to the new part. Then I held the panel closed against the new part and re installed the screws. Very, Very easy. Don't call a repairman if you have a bad latch.
