Both washer and dryer always worked perfectly. Suddenly, dryer wasn’t drying laundry properly. Problem... no heat. Cheapest price I could find calling for appliance service was about $160 to replace coil set but no one would tell me this would fix the problem. This was after calling a number of repair firms and trying to get a somewhat close estimate of what my problem was and what the repair cost. Not knowing, I might have just paid the $160 but what turned me off was having a service call fee of anywhere from $50-$80 with no one willing to tell me what the problem might most likely be before coming out or give me an estimate over the phone other than a range of $160 - $275. I just did not want to have someone come out for $50 -$80 and tell me that I needed to spend $275 and still owe them the service call even if I did not agree.
Found diagnostic and repair instructions help on line. The diagnostic information indicated a high probability, roughly 50%, that replacing the coil set would solve the problem and found the coil set cost $19.21 plus shipping, so I ordered the coil kit for total of $26.70. Note... I am a 71 year old amateur never having worked as a repairman of any kind except for my own needs.
The repair itself took less than 30 minutes start to finish and was one of the most straight forward, glitch free, easy repairs I have ever done. This is a gas dryer but still uses 110 power so I unplugged the 110 power cord from outlet. Followed suggested guidance on opening the dryer cabinet from the front and presto, the coil set I needed to replace was immediately right in front with easy access. Removed 2 screws for the hold-down bracket, slipped off both coils, one at a time, removing the wiring connection for each coil and then reconnecting to each new coil before slipping each new coil back into place and reattaching the hold down bracket. Reinstalled the dryer door and cabinet front in reverse order from taking off... 4 screws total. Plugged in the 110 power cord and put in a damp load of freshly washed laundry. Presto... 30 minutes later... dry laundry. Note... could do the same repair again in half the time since I took it slow and careful 1st time and also took time to remove dust before completing repair. I like things to look like new inside and out and it did when I was done. $26.70 and good as new. Why I didn't spend $160 - $275 is pretty obvious now.

flipped up top, removed 2 5/16 screws fro front face, removed belt and drum. removed rear seal and instaled new seal and assembled in revers order

two screws on lint screen push up top two screws on front cover. two screws on coils lift coils off put back together. less than 10 minutes. all done

I won't tell you how we did it, but I'll tell you the right way. Unplug. Remove the exhaust tubing attached to back of dryer. Pry the top up from the front and lean it against the wall. Un plug the wires attached to the front panel (remember where they go) Remove screws at top sides of front panel. "lift up" and remove. Close top. Lay machine on its back. We used a couple of 2x4's to lay it on so as not to crush the vest collar. Clean it out, including lint filter. The new belt wraps around the drum, you will see the channel about midway on drum. Feel behind the motor on the lower right side. There is a shaft with a channel for the belt. Immediately next to that is another pulley type arm with another channel for the belt. This arm moves stiffly and puts tension on the belt when installed correctly. Look at the diagram included with the new belt which shows the path of the belt. Wrap the belt, ridges against the drum and then around the motor shaft. At this point you have to physically pull the last arm out to allow the belt to wrap around the channel provided. If the belt is not twisted , the job is done. Turn the drum with your hands to make sure it is turning properly. Replace the front panel, plug in the electricals, replace the screws making sure the drum is properly centered. Stand up the dryer. Plug in and turn on dryer to make sure everything is right. Replace the exhaust tubing and set into place. Sounds like a lot of steps but I have described the whole process for you beginners. The rest of you will know already. Good Luck . Undo 2 screws take units out, clean a little, install new parts and screw down, done, great site !!!!!

Unplug the dryer, remove hot air duct. Remove metal dryer back to access thermostat using a nut driver. Unscrew one screw holding on thermostat, detach 4 wires, and replace with new unit, attaching 4 wires to new unit. Then reverse process to button up the dryer. Great how-to video on your site helped a lot!

Pried the top up, disconnected the door switch, removed two top screws holding the front panel, disconnected the spring and removed the front panel. Removed the screws and retainer holding the coils, replaced both coils and reversed the process. This was the third component I replaced to solve the problem....a cheap multi-meter and some testing would have solved the problem sooner. We now have the whole heat cycle.

First, I want to thank everyone else who has submitted their stories and experiences. Basically, follow the YouTube video on how to take part the machine. Don't turn off the gas, but do unplug the electric plug. Vacuuum everything up. Wipe excess dirt off everything. Once open, take out the tensioner piece, and the two rubber wheels which hold the weight of the drum. Clean them out, and sand down the pin from which the two wheels came, and the inside of the wheels. Use a degreaser, or other cleaner to make them good as new. When reassembling them, oil it; I used one of those old fashioned motor oil cans, the little ones left over from grandpa. You know the kind. A few drops and spin the wheels. Clean up the excess and drips. Tear off what's left of the drum seal, clean it, sand it, use a chisel the scrape off the bumps, then sand some more. Wipe it clean. Put on the new seal per the instructions. The diagram that came with it is pretty good. Use clothes pins to pin it down as you put it on. Make sure it fits. Now add glue as you go around, take pins off, then put the, back on to keep it from moving. I used disposable gloves and a rolls of paper towels. It gets a bit messy, but it's ok as long as it's on the outside of the drum. After about 5 hours, I put it back together and let it spin on cool air only. If you don't hear any noise, you're done. One last thing: don't dro the screw down the link catch hole!

I watched the video several times to make sure I got it right. The first thing that was very helpful was how to disassemble the top cover and front panel using a putty knife to disengage the detents. With the cover off I could acccess the belt and idler pulley. Replacing the belt was fairly easy as long as you note the way it threads through the idler pulley and drive pulley. I thought the video was excellent. It took me right to the problem and the fix. As a bonus the price for the belt was much lower from Parts Supply then from Sears. I've recommended this site to several others.

First I purchased the heating element, still no heat. Then I purchased the thermal fuse,still no heat. I have been pleased with the prompt shipment of the parts and the parts arrived safe. Thank you for service and time, not sure what to do now.I will recommend PartSelect to friends.

Unplug unit / removed back cover / went down , locating both parts to be replaced / simple one screw removal from each part / thermal fuse , one wire @ a time , reinstalled . / Cycling thermostat , 4 wires. Did one wire @ a time , reinstalled. / Putted back cover back on , plugged dryier back up, turned it on to run. To check for heat / yes, ran good as new. Later that day some more running , with damp clothes in it. Did it's job , dry.

Took the back off of the dryer, looked on "parts select" found what I thought might be the problem. Got the parts the next day. Put on new thermal fuse, then put on cycling thermostat. Wasn't sure which it needed, so put both on. Put the back of the dryer on hooked the gas up, hooked up to electric, & turned the dryer on. Back in business, everything works, dryer works as if nothing was wrong. Thanks to "parts select" saved me a repair bill.

I watched your video on how to replace the fuse.Wow it was a lot easier than I thought.I would highly reccomend anyone to watch the video before even trying to do any repairs.The dryer is working like a new one.By doing it myself saved me a lot of money.Thank you

Removed two screws at the top, removed two screws for the front panel, removed the broken belt, installed the new belt, followed the directions that were in the new belt package, and replaced all the panels and tested. It worked.
