Replace old leaky door seal with replacement part
I peeled off the old seal and replaced with the new seal. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, however the new seal made the door not stay closed as the friction catch at the top was no strong enough to overcome the tension of the door closed with the new seal.
There were explicit instructions on the way the seal was to work with the sealed edge spreading into the tub area as the door closed. I was very careful to follow those instructions and made sure to seat the seal carefully. After I reinstalled the seal three times to see if I could get it to seat properly, as a last ditch effort I reversed the seal to the opposite way the instructions indicated and it worked with the door closing properly and the seal didn't leak.
Based on looking at the old seal and how it was originally installed, I actually think the seal was out of spec for the unit. However, if it isn't leaking that is what it's all about so we will see how long it holds.
Drain Pump was giving off a burning smell. When I pulled the dishwasher out it had some light smoke coming from the Drain Pump
Shut the power to the dishwasher off. Pulled unit out from under the counter top and raised the left hand side up for easy access. Disconnected the wiring, undid the clips, turned counter clockwise and removed. Reversed the order for installation and Connected the power. Ran several cycles successfully. Problem fixed. I found instructions on line when I goggled my dishwasher name and model number with the words noisy door. There were three or four good suggestions at a couple of the sites I visited. I tried applying vasoline, then silicone to the rope where it travels through the plastic guides but that just cut the sound down about 50%. My dishwasher has plastic guides that look like rollers but they don't turn, they are fixed in place. The ropes squeak as the pass over the guides. The replacement part kit has plastic guides that turn like wheels now so the rope does not drag over them and squeak. This repair could be done by me in 20 minutes or less every time now that I know what I am doing.
I removed the black bottom metal cover then turned the nuts on the adjusting (leveling) bolts to lower the front end of the dishwasher so I could pull it out of the cabinet. Once I lowered is as low as it would go I opened the door and pushed down on it which tilts the dishwasher down and you pull out on it and the top lip clears the cabinet. If your dishwasher just pulls out the first time you try these steps may not be necessary. Once the dishwasher is out the guides and rope are down at the bottom in the front by the door. It's obvious what to do to replace them.
Was able to replace and repair without taking the dishwasher out. Thermostat is behind and to the left of the power junction box. Has 2 wires going to it. It is up against the bottom of tub. I used an angled mirror to see what I was doing. 1 small screw to detach and pull down thermostat. Be sure power is off before you start. Also reprogrammed defaults. Hit any button 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3, fast and close door. Let it sit 15 min to run and re-set defaults. Now I have heat and dry dishes.
Actually, the repair was very simple because of the you tube video demonstrating the repair. This made the repair very easy. I repair/replaced both springs and links
The repair was really easy. First disconnected electricity staring with fuses and removing wires from dishwasher, then disconnected drain hose and water hose. Pulled it out and removed pump turning clockwise no need for tools and same way installed new one. Very easy
You need to pull the unit out to get access to the spring connected to the rear leg frame. Use the everything in the kit. The rollers are upgraded and will guid the cable better.
Everything worked perfectly---thanks to the suggestion of your call center agent. She suggested that since the replacement door handles were no longer available, I should consider repainting them--it worked like a charm. Please tell her she was a life saver. We rent that house in Fl and my returning tenants had complained about the discoloring refer handles. Thank you
First, this replacement kit seems to be of much better quality than the factory original. I was able to remove the old adjuster from the top rack with my hands - did break a little more in the process, but as this was destined for the garbage anyway, I wasn't delicate about it. The new adjuster kit snapped together easily with clear instructions and pictures in a matter of minutes, even with a 1, 3, and 5 year old "helping." Last step requires a screwdriver. I only replaced one side, for now, and it took longer to get the old adjuster off than it did to install new. Done in under ten minutes start to finish and works perfectly!
Dish rack adjuster kit W10712394: I am a fully inexperienced and non-mechanical mom who needed her dishwasher during this holiday season! It took me a little longer and seemed a little harder than the description said it would - but not by much. The dishwasher is now better than it was when we bought it. Tip 1 - The original mechanism had no screws. The replacement kit does. The kit comes with a special screw that you will need in order to use a phillips screwdriver. It would have been helpful to know that before I tried to screw the screws in and stripped the first one because none of my screwdrivers fit. 2- Instructions aren't clear and photos are a little distorted (2D rather than 3D) for a novice. I wish I'd known this request for installation instructions was coming before I finished the project so I could have taken pictures. Tip - Take pictures to submit for installation instructions for others to appreciate. Would be nice to have some kind of perk to motivate people to do the work of clarifying instructions and submitting pictures. 3 - The part that locks the sliding mechanism into place is a little tricky. That step in the instructions needs some attention. I don't know how to clarify it further but other than the problem with the screws, this is the part that consumed time that an experienced dishwasher repair person might have breezed through.
I had cleaned the filter on my dishwasher and neglected to reattach the lower spray arm. It went through the next wash/dry cycle resting on a coil and was burned and deformed beyond being able to use it.
The new lower spray arm fit right into place. All set, and I will always check to see if it is sitting properly!
