GSH25JSTASS General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

I am not a very handy with tools. I called a repairmen and theharged me $50 to look at refrigerator/freezer. He told it needed a Defrost Heater and bracket assembly. He said it would cost with the service charge $220.00. So I went to Refrigerator parts web page and that is where I found PARTSELECT Web site. I order the part for a lot less then repair shop would have charged. It was pretty easy to install since it was just a couple of screws and bolts. Thanks to PartSelect.

I replaced both the Defrost Thermostat and the Temperature Sensor located on the top of the cooling coils. I ordered them because they were the least expensive items that addressed my problem. They did not correct my problem. I then ordered the Main Control circuit board. I installed the board in about 15 minutes. Finally my freezer returned to the set temperature of 0 degrees F. Problem solved

Instructions that came with the part were useless. I would have created new problems if I had attempted to follow the instructions. However, once I had the old part removed and put it beside the new part, required repair process was obvious, easy and quick. Frig now makes ice better than it ever did.

The video instructions were easy to follow as well as the replacement. The replacement Main Control Board is generic to different refrigerators and has more connectors than the original. Be sure to identify the locations prior to removal and installation.

I pulled cover off back that housed the board. Unplugged all the wires that went to the board. wires will only fit in one spot so you cannot mess it up. snapped it off the pegs, then replaced new board in same spot. hooked plugs back up and installed ground wire. covered it back up plugged it in and it ran.

Replacing the motherboard was really easy. However it has not fixed my refrigerator. I continue to have cooling issues with fridge and sometimes with the freezer.

I'm a housewife in her late 40's. Before ordering the part, I watched your video on how to remove and install the new icemaker. First I unplugged the refrigerator. After a few minutes, I unplugged the icemaker and unscrewed it. I lifted it a bit and removed it. I did not use the icecup that comes with the part. Instead I removed the one from the old part and inserted it to the new one. Then I plugged in the new icemaker, placed it inside so as to match the holes and screwed it in. YES, it was that simple. It took me less than 10 minutes to do this. I saved myself over $100!!

The ice maker tray was removed and the e-clip was removed from the end of the auger shaft,I then released the snap clip retainers and removed al the screws to romove the end of the Ice crusher section on the box.(It is a good idea to run this whole unit under hot water as the plastic could crack if to much force is applied during dissasembly. Plastic can be brittle when very cold). The shaft (auger)was extracted and the plastic retainer nut removed with a channel lock plier. Careful as it has a left hand thread. I was then able to remove the crusher blades and bushings from the end of the auger shaft and reassembled the parts on the new shaft. Refer to the parts catolog blowup view page on the website for proper installation of these parts if you get them mixed up. It is of great help. I then reassembled the auger back into the box and reassembled the other parts and screws to finish assembly. Popped it back into the frezzer and it works perfect. Tools required were nothing more than a thick kitchen towel to hold the Auger down and a flathead screwdriver for the e-clip retainer. A channel lock plier to take of the end nut as it has no flats for a wrench and a phillips screw driver for a couple of screws. Total time was about 20 minutes. I probably saved about $100.00 in doing this myself. Thanks again to PartSelect for getting my paet to me in a couple days.

diagnose problem would not come out of defrost cycle researched issue on line with model & serial # found issues with control board and boards were upgraded purchased new board installed in 15 minutes and been working fine

Repair is fairly simple you do need to know that nut at end of auger is left hand thread and ice crusher assembly only goes together one way. So pay attention suring disassembly

First of all, you must watch the video on the partselect.com site. The video helps a lot. Then, you can start disconnecting the power cable; unscrew the cover of the main control board. Disconnected the connections from the old board. Unplug the board with a help of a small plier. Installed the new board, connect all connections back. Put the cover back. Connect back the power cable. Unit is running as a brand new.
