It required three different efforts to secure the correct part, but once the right one came, it required no more than removing the old bucket and replacing it with the new one, which is now working perfectly.

The video showing how to remove and install the auger from my GE ice maker was FABULOUS!!!. I am a 71 year old senior woman, I am proud I fixed this appliance without any help other than the video... The Video is why I purchased from Parts Select.

Removed the old one ane replaced it with the new one, quite simple.

Changing the water solinoid was quick and easy but not the problem! After still not getting water to the ice maker,I took the ice maker itself out of the freezer.I could hear something small rattling arround inside the plastic housing.As I took it apart I found a tiny white piece of plastic inside the size of grain of rice.It had broken off the end of an arm that rides on a cam of the electric timer.Without that little plastic tit riding on the cam,it make the maker out of sink! I fixed it by drilling a .080 hole in the spot the piece had broken off.Then I took apart an old broken fishing reel for a screw to use in place of the broken off piece.I re-installed everything and the ice maker has been working as good as new and will hopefully out live the fridge.My solinoid is now a good spare part!! Dan

Wasn't sure if my problem was the thermostat or defrost heater, so I just replaced both. 1) Unplug fridge. 2) Remove shelves, guides, and the back cover as needed to access the coils. 3) Defrost coils - a hairdryer works well. 4) Remove and replace heater assembly - it's just 2 screws at the bottom of the coil assembly. 5) Cut wires to the thermostat that is clipped to top of coils. 6) Connect new thermostat with wire nuts and wrap nuts with electrical tape. 7) Clip thermostat back onto coils. 8) Put it all back together. After I removed my heater assembly I took it apart and found that the heater element was broken and looked pretty burned out. Easy fix and a lot cheaper than paying for a service call.

I had already replaced the icemaker and solenoid valve and had not solved my problem. After I looked at the back wall gasket, it was obvious that the element was getting too hot. Installation was really simple- unplug refrigerator cord, remove frozen food and racks, remove light cover and back sheet metal by removing 4 screws, cut and splice wires to new parts. Reinstall.

I watched the Utube video, repeated the process at home while awaiting the part, and installed the flapper door in about 15 minutes after it arrived--piece of cake. The hardest part was removing the escutcheon plate on the front of the freezer door. I figured out I could slide a putty knife under it and the rest of the project was completed in no time at all.

Removed ice cube bucket. Removed two screws holding existing bucket slide on. Replaced with new part. Couldn't be easier!

After removing the ice bin from the freezer turn off the ice maker. Removed the clear ice shield(one screw) from the front top of the ice bin. Turned the ice bin upside down and removed the two screws to release the ice crusher box then removed the screw holding the ice crusher control rod in place, you will also need to release the spring tention and slide the spring along the rod(not to easy) with the rod released you will need to insert your finger into the ice crusher opening and lift the white plate up to allow the rod to be disconnectedd from its hole in the ice crusher parts. Turn the bin right side up and with two flat screwdrivers pry(on the two short sides) opposite each other, insert the flat ends into the gap between the ice crusher box and lift the bin up and out and remove the ice crusher box and auger out of the bin. Once you have the auger and box out, stand the ice crusher box on end and remove the clear plastic plate up the auger(this is a little tricky and you will have to wiggle it around until you can get it up and off the auger shaft. Once you have the plastic plate off, lay the ice crusher box and auger down on its flat side. Hold the auger so it does not turn and remove the c-clip with a flat screwdriver. Remove the auger from the ice crusher box. Hold the auger to prevent the auger from turning and remove the large white nut(left hand thread)turn clockwise to remove. The ice crusher parts can now be removed from the shaft, it is very importment that they are put back onto the new shaft in the right order. To help you get the order correct, place them down onto the workbench with the white nut at the top of a single column with the last item taken off, being closest to you, in the same order and with the front side facing up. Replace the broken auger and install the parts starting with the part closest to you. Once you have the ice crusher parts back onto the shaft reinstall the auger into the ice crusher box and reinstall the c-clip to hold the assembly into the ice crusher box. Now reassembly the unit in the reverse order. Once you have the auger and ice crusher box into the ice bin and the rod and screws in place, you are ready to reinstall the unit into the freezer. Note how the drive arm is positioned and insure the auger drive end is aligned to fit into the drive arm in the back of the freezer. Turn on the ice maker(green light should come on) and reinstall the bin.

I remover the old board, installed the new one with minor diffaculty. All wiring fit perfectly and board fit perfect also. A very easy job to perform.

Followed the Parts Select video on You Tube for replacing the auger. The video was very detailed, accurate and easy to follow. Could pause the video each time I performed a step. Job went really well and the ice maker works great again. Saved about $20 on the auger through Part Select compared to the GE price for the part.
